Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

How about this evidence?

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/11/confirmed-htc-thunderbolt-will-be-249-on-2-year-contract/

Let's do some thinking. DroidLife says that this Best Buy ad is due for the week of the 20. Although we don't see a February 20th date on the ad (or at least I didn't) let's presume that it IS the Best Buy ad for the 20th. Okay, notice how the ad DIDN'T mention anything about preorder; this confirms that the Thunderbolt will already released and therefore ensures a February 14th or 17th launch at Best Best even if Verizon and other third party vendors don't sell the phone on those dates for whatever reason.

Maybe at the time the ad was created they didn't have a release date and they planned on adding later. I'm assuming they still don't have a date because different people are reporting different dates from bb employees. We are just going to have to wait for Verizon to announce the date until then were all just guessing.

Wishful thinking. It'll be 2/24. But BB probably wasn't sure on exact date when this ad was developed and sent to printers.

Wishful thinking? We'll see. Don't be a Negative Nancy...

I just talked with the BB I pre ordered thru and they said the Verizon rep was in today and told them it could be released at anytime between the 14th and the 26th. He told them he knew why it was being held up but was not allowed to tell them.

Once again, Verizon counts the 10th as day one... which if you count it up on your little fingers, makes the 23rd the 14th day and means the return period expires after 11:59 PM on the 23rd

Here:
Feb 10 - Day 1
Feb 11 - Day 2
Feb 12 - Day 3
Feb 13 - Day 4
Feb 14 - Day 5
Feb 15 - Day 6
Feb 16 - Day 7
Feb 17 - Day 8
Feb 18 - Day 9
Feb 19 - Day 10
Feb 20 - Day 11
Feb 21 - Day 12
Feb 22 - Day 13
Feb 23 - Day 14
Feb 24 - If you bought a phone on the 10th, you are now locked into your contract and unable to exchange your device for a TB

I don't understand what you don't get. I said "the 24th is the 15th day from the 10th..."

Why did you type all that out? I didn't say it was the 14th...

Just called up Verizon asking about my upgrade that is now available. I tried to discretely ask about the Thunderbolt, and she told me that they were given exclusive information about the release date just TODAY, but could not give it out to the public yet.

She was just saying how its due out this month blah blah blah. So I tried probing a little more and she's responds saying, "well this month is almost over there's only 20 days and valentines day, so it will be soon enough"

Just interesting how she dropped the word valentine's day.

I say we all try calling verizon and see if we can get a rep to release that information

Just called 611, option 5, option 4, billing password, got a rep and asked if she had a release date for the HTC ThunderBolt.

Said they haven't gotten any information yet. I asked her if they had any information on the phone at all and she said she has gotten other calls about the ThunderBolt today, but they don't have any information.

I did online chat with Verizon and the person told me she will check the info. few minutes later she told me I will have to call Customer Service, they may be able to tell me the launch date for Thunderbold.

I can't be on the phone right now but can someone please call customer service and post it here :D

While being an interesting read is true, saying, "from a highly reliable source." isn't hard to type out. I'm waiting for a Verizon announcement at this point. I preordered at Best Buy, and when they call me I'll be in the store.

Until then I have a "Highly reliable source" that says Verizon hasn't given a date yet. Since it wan't today, that's the information I'm standing behind.

You knew, everyone here all got their own highly reliable source.....2/14, 2/17, 2/24, 3/31....who knows..

LOL Well reliable or not the 24th of this month seems to more cognitive? It matches up with any normal VZW release :D

I imagine we'll prob have an announcement Monday from MWC

Now that we see the price as $749 without a contract and $249 with a contract is there a way to add 2 lines get the phones for contract price cancel the lines after 30 days and pay the cancelation fee? It would still be cheaper then forking out $749.

There would be a, what, $90(?) activation fee for the line as well. That would end up being almost the same price. If not more.

90 dollar activation fee would be nuts. I am actually now considering doing the whole buy on contract, terminate said contract after transferring my number to the Bolt and paying the ETF . I will still come out ahead.

That is exactly what im thinking of doing... Can you do it that way without having more penalties?
