Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

I'm not trying to offend anyone here, but I will etch that in stone on my way out of the store on Thursday with a TBolt in my hand...

I fell horrible. I saw an iphone on ebay for 500 bucks and really considered buying it LMFAO. THe last iphone i bought off ebay, i flipped it and made 800 bucks. But this iphone would have been my choice over the TB.

Forgive me people for i have sinned. Do not cast thou stone at me for thy simple mistake.

So some no-name assclown has information, but the biggest tech sites on the planet don't? Yeah, not buying that.

People like blackman are where tech sites get their information. He isn't a no name ass clown, he is one of the best known Verizon insiders in the tech community.

at the risk of being a moron (which isnt all that unusual for me, just ask my wife), i know it was reported that this was to be a best buy exclusive. so, i went ahead and informed my local verizon rep, who has been AWESOME over the years, that i was going to have to get it at BB. but i have seen it questioned here that this may or may not be true. if i CAN get it at my local store, from MY rep, i want to cancel the preorder and get it from her. regardless, i AM excited that it appears, APPEARS, to be coming next week. does anyone have any rock solid info on locations of release? well, as rock solid as we can get with this particular release

retail exclusivity means the other 3rd party retailers wont be selling this phone (walmart, radioshack, ...) Verizon WILL be selling this so go ahead and cancel your pre-order and buy it from your rep

I'm going to say this again. Verizon doesn't necessarily have to announce the TBolt, it would make sense but they may not.

The big question is whether it will be available in non 4G markets. I'm thinking it might not be, which would make the lack of announcement yet make some more sense.

As I write this, I know that I'm going to get blasted and I understand. But, I stopped into my local Verizon store tonight hoping to get my hand on a dummy unit. I just wanted to get a feel for this phone. The store was crowded, but I did have a chance to speak with several of the reps who happened to be available. I asked if they had any of the dummy unit and they gave me the run around, saying that they haven't really received anything yet. Whatever...I'm sure they have them on hand by now.
Anyway, one of the reps gave me the standard, "We've heard rumors of this date and that date". But, in the end he did say, "Why don't you stop back in on Thursday."
I know, I know, take it with a grain of salt but I'm really hoping that the 24th is the day. I've been waiting for this phone for months now.

It should be noted that "Retail Exclusive" in this case only pertains to brick-and-mortar retailers. Both Wirefly and Amazon will carry this phone as well.

Hey guys, Im new to the forums, but have been a watcher/reader for a long time. I decided to finally register, because i work for VZW and figured maybe i could help out with any questions and most importantly im a huge android fan.

As for the tbolt, I have been following this device ever since engadget and bgr first talked about it. It started out as the mecha, then the incredible hd and now the tbolt. The said truth is, no one at Verizon has any idea of the release date. Verizon is VERY strict with info like this, So strict they wont even tell us. I constantly check our system and intranet for any info on it and well, theres nothing on the release date. So, be very careful and don't get too excited until big red officially announces it. We haven't even received any accessories, signage or anything. Just training material. If Verizon doesn't announce it by monday, then don't count on a February release.

Also, Believe it or not we've had a overwhelming amount of interest so far about the tbolt, So much that the iphone doesn't matter and thats a great thing, because i always defend old green whenever people try to tell me otherwise.

the delay (if it's true) likely has nothing to do with the hardware itself. Verizon has been working 24/7 to get the LTE network up to snuff.

As BMX has said in the past, "you can't rush new tech" .. Aircards and phones, while they might both be LTE/CDMA/whatever devices, interact with the network differently.

For example, an LTE aircard likely won't need to perform a handoff when switching towers. Most aircard usage is going to be stationary. (I cite this example because the delay from the 14th was rumored to be due to a problem with LTE tower handoffs)

verizon has a lot riding on this phone. they really can't afford to have the launch fail. they're not going to release it until the network is ready.
