I'm curious as to why Verizon MUST announce the release date. I mean, could it not just arrive in stores on the 24th and they change the commercials from Coming Soon to Available Now?
Maybe they don't want masses running to the stores in fear of over stressing the 4G towers. Maybe they would rather have the public slowly ease into and slowly learn about it to make sure there are not any huge bugs. I mean... these 4G towers are fairly new and although they work with Computers, there is probably not a huge number of users...
As opposed to say they announce that X is the release date 2 weeks in advanced. It might be too much if Y number of people all rush on the network on that release day? And even if its not too much, maybe they want to take all precautions possible.
If for some reason this phone fails on the 4G, I feel like that would really hurt Verizon.
Note: I have no idea what I'm talking about, my mind is just wandering, trying to be optimistic

The commercials are running like crazy around here. If VZW knows that the phone won't be out for weeks then they could easily cut back on the advertising a bit.
Print advertising is a whole different matter, but TV commercials can be pulled off the air easily; VZW could even replace the TB ads with advertising for other phones (iPhone) if they already paid for the time spots.
The fact that the TB commercials are increasing in frequency tells me that the release is imminent. I seriously doubt February 24 is still in play, but I'm betting that the TB will be available on March 3 or March 10.
OMG Verizon is wasting so much money on Commercials.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, I'm a realist. There is no PROOF that it's even coming the 24th. But the logical signs points towards 24th+
Here's the signs-
We have no info on them shipping to stores (the Xzoom is already showing up in stores and it releases the 24th),
we had tweets from BMX saying he'd be surprised if it dropped the 24 or in Feb,
we have more info that there are/were some issues with LTE/Bolt,
we have no announcement from VZW less than two days away from the 24th and consider there has only been 1 major android phone (droid 2) not given at least a week of notice before release(and that phone is not the 4G flagship phone),
we also have no leaks what so ever about production phones in the wild,
we have heard multiple BB and VZW stores/reps that are saying just today that the phone got pushed back (these are most likely the more recent stories since it's new info from the 24th rumors).
Now we have supposed emails from higher ups claiming a push back. I agree that there is a chance it'll release this Thursday but that's chance is growing smaller every minute.
It's black man x.... most of what he says is gibberish and double talk.
Personally, I don't know how he gets away with it... nor any other Verizon employees tweeting product info.
If I did that, I would be fired...

I just want to see and touch this thing so I can decide if I want it or bionic but at this rate I will be able to compare them all by nov. 21 2011 exactly 1 year after my contract expired thank good my storm 1 is still holding on
