Verizon Marshmallow Incoming Today 2/16

looks like i've lost the ability to open google now from any screen by dragging up from the home button

Correct, with Google Now on Tap... You push and hold the home icon to open up Google. Once done you can select Google from right above the home icon.

Yeah, it takes some getting used to and doesn't seem as smooth (could be due to me using Nova Launcher though). Still alright though.

Battery life seems better. That doze/battery optimization might just be doing the trick. Would it be fair to say it's almost like Google has embedded Greenify into its OS, with Doze?

So no real conclusions for me yet since its only been just over 24 hours of regular use since I got the update. No major issues or problems for me. Battery life yesterday was poor but a bit better today, yet still not as good as "normal" for my typical usage. I'll give it several more days to settle in before I consider a factory reset. I have two spare batteries that I can use so I don't have any real concerns yet.

Today's usage was 14 hours on battery, 2 hrs SOT with 39% remaining... I'm usually closer to 50% remaining on an average day so we'll see how things go over the next few days before doing an FDR.

Oh, and things DO seem snappier.

Today was my first day at work with MM on the LG G4. My battery level graph was flatline (crazy wonderful) all morning long; used it much more in the afternoon then came home with 70% battery today. I was getting very good battery life before MM but now its like I get an extra 20%-25% each day.

Just a note...I had to clear my cache in recovery mode to get this....

I got prompted for the update for the first time this morning. I deferred it until I get home tonight so I'm going cross my fingers and go for it.

My update notice didn't show up until this morning. So far all is running smoothly. I do most of my gaming on my Nexus 9 tablet, so I probably won't notice a huge difference in battery consumption.

I have the same issue, sometimes a reboot is the only fix

That only works if you can wake it up to reboot it.

I have to take it out of the case and pull the battery to get it to reboot when it won't wake up.

This is new since MM, up till then my G4 had been flawless.

This is a P.I.T.A. and I do not like it.

YO, LG.. VERIZON, SOMEONE...

I need a fix for this not waking up thing please???

What's the best way to install?
1) Install update
2) Factory Data Reset
3) Clear cache via recovery mode

Or is there a better way to do this?

No problem with the upgrade, but I didn't do the HD/Wifi calling because it's incompatible with the ringback tones (but I am tempted to just do away with it).

For those having battery issues I had the same thing the first day and found that if you have Accuweather installed it was taking 20% of my battery per hour. Once uninstalled the battery life has been really good.

I had to call VZW and ask to remove that Visual voice mail feature on my phone. Didn't appear to be way for me to remove off phone. Rep removed it.

I may do this as well if that's the only way.

I also noticed it was trying to download the update a bit ago despite having the system update app disabled. Thankfully I caught it so it didn't finish or try to install. With my first G4, that prevented updates. Not sure what changed with this one.

I was wondering the same thing...

(I'm replying to bchandler02 btw)

I noticed the notification options have changed a bit. I used to have options for All notifications, Priority, and Do Not Disturb (none). Now it appears to be All or nothing. Do Not Disturb has 2 options, all off/silent, or priority only. So there's no way to have all three options available. This is very annoying. At night I would set my phone to Priority only so that emergency calls from my parents or very close friends, or our emergency on call number for work, would come through. But there were times where I needed to set my phone to silent or no notifications. I can't do that anymore without having to modify Do Not Disturb. I know it seems minor but I basically can't stop notifications on my phone anymore easily.

I also have an issue where recurring appointments syncing from Exchange got duplicated all over the place. For example a recurring appointment that was every 3rd Monday of the month, ended up on every Monday of every month. I haven't been able to fix it any other way than making the appointment not recurring and making an individual appointment for each Monday. Very annoying.

I did a basic reset of my phone, not a full factory reset. This seemed to have fixed the not waking up problem I was having.
I had to replace my lock screen and home screen pics, also my ring and notification tones, also my choice of keyboard.
Hope that helps some!

Moon, I tried your disable updates suggestion in the other thread and it's pestering me to update also. Ugh...I so don't want MM.

Not that I needed it before with the VzW coverage being pretty stellar, but it's nice to have WiFi calling just in case. I always thought the G4 has very good call quality, to begin with. That was one drawback of the GS4 I had before it. Whether or not running a FDR makes a difference after upgrading the OS, I don't know, but my VS986 is running superbly right now.

Upgrade went smoothly. I've only noticed two issues:
The pointer/path to my external SD card seems to have changed in 6.0. The native Android Music app saw my music files fine, but GoneMad did not. I simply edited the scan path, and started a new scan to fix that. Likewise, I have a lot of offline maps for maps.me stored on external SD, and when I opened it, it claimed it had no map data; simply re-pointing maps.me at the external SD fixed the issue. If you have a lot of programs accessing external SD, be prepared to do some manual fixes.

The lock screen swipe animation is gone. Previously, I'd double-tap the screen, and get a basic notification window that I'd have to touch and swipe away to use the device (assuming the device wasn't in a locked state). Now, if my device is unlocked, and the screen idles out, I double-tap, and I'm right where I left the screen. So sort of cool--but I can see this being a problem with false-double-taps while in my pocket, when the device isn't locked. Previously, the swipe made it basically impossible to mistakenly swipe away, so you'd never pocket-dial/delete/whatever. The setting for this option is no longer on the Lock Screen settings page. Any clues?
