Where's Froyo for the Fascinate?

I think onemight argue we don't have true 3G today. Download spears if 1 or 2 mb is barely 3G speeds. The 4g phones are getting 8mb down in select locations. That to me is a significant difference and worthy of 4g title. The 4g spec is crazy and we'll never see that in the us.

Oh for sure -the speeds these things get are nuts. We won't see true "4g" for a long long time but I have to wonder what the hell we'll call true 4g when the time comes

4G is 4G...as long as it's meeting the bare minimum standard, no one can say it's not "true 4G". Well, yes, it is really. Sure, you'll have 4G that is faster than others, but as long as it meets the minimum capabilities and speed requirements, it's by definition 4G. That is my point.

Exactly. The carriers are upgrading their radios and towers so they want us to pay more to cover the cost. They will find something to call it.

The other argument is that 3G must be able to do voice and data simultaneously... Which every verizon 3g handset fails at. But that's neither here nor there.

Well to be fair, that was an early limitation of CDMA and not just Verizon. Subsequent upgrades to the EVDO platform have allowed for it but Verizon never adopted it, or in the least never enabled it. Thankfully that will be going away with LTE.

I do agree on the updates though. Unless the phone has the "Droid" name attached, VZW does not care. Majority of their commercials are still pushing Moto Droid

there have been several test builds for the froyo fascinate build but each had serious issues. I know that its frustrating to have to wait but VZW prides itself on ensuring that each update is ready before pushing it to hundreds of thousands of units. I would however expect something to be ready by year end, early 2011.

but no, most people here are concerned about the VZW version of the fascinate... the telus version might as well be called the vibrant since it is a a gsm phone.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year **EXCEPT** for the people who work at Samsung. I simply can not believe that we still do not have ANY update for the Fascinate yet. At least release the GPS fix for us that Cory checked out a few weeks back.

Moto phones get update after update and we get the shaft. And yes blah blah everyone will say that they want the update to be bug free and for it to work. I agree, but with the resources that Samsung has, this is inexcusable. This is definitely my last Samsung phone.

Sorry for the rant, but I am just so frustrated sitting in my car with my phone saying "Searching for GPS..."

Moto phones get update after update and we get the shaft.

Actually, being that I own the DX, it took FOREVER for us to even get an update after 2.2, despite the numerous bugs associated with it. Not to mention that we were supposed to get 2.2 at least a couple of months before we actually got it. Don't think that you're the only one, Motorola and Samsung are in the same boat, HTC seems to be the only one with a good reputation for updates.

People, come off it already. It is not completly Samsung's fault that we do not have Froyo on our Fascinate's yet. They have long since provided the update to Verizon and it is them (Verizon) who are dragging their heels on this. The update will get here when it get's here.

Apply the GPS fix yourself. There are multiple ways of doing it. You can flash just the GPS fix by itself, or update completely to dj05.

Look at the bright side: You could have an Xperia running on 1.6 and be still waiting for SE & AT&T to bring you UP TO 2.1 .
