I'm a total Nexus S fanboy. Ask away

How does one go about transferring files from PC to NS4G? I have USB debug checked, but my PC doesn't recognize...

Nope, has to be checked...

I have HTC drivers for Android, but apparently they will not work for the NS4G...

OT - I was wondering if you could answer a question for me next time you pull your battery, could you let me know if the part number of your battery is: AB653850CA 1440mah or AB653850CABSTD 1500mah.

Thanks

I'm so tempted to go nexus s 4g to replace my evo instead of an evo 3d. Wish the nexus had an led for notifications. Are there ways to do visual notifications when rooted?

Look in the market for an app called noled. I thought it was lame at first but after messing around with settings until I got the desired result, it's working great. It isn't perfect but it tells you more information that just a led light can. I have it pop up an icon of gmail, messaging, google voice, voicemail, charging percentage when plugged in. It kinda grew on me after awhile.

Agree, took me awhile to get it the way I want it - but it is nice!

I've been searching and have not found anything yet about a completely stock flashable image of 2.3.3 for the ns4g. I was hoping to find it in google's site but having no luck so far. Does it exist yet? Stupid question I know. 2.3.4 full stock image would be better still. It's tough because the 4g just came out yesterday and there's hardly anything for it.

I know this has probably already been covered but I can't seem to find the answer . . . . . coming from an EVO I can't for the life of me figure out how to set custom ringtones for individual contacts! I go into contacts, choose one, and then choose edit. Normally every other device I can remember had an option in there to assign a ringtone but not on my new Nexus. At least not that I can find?

Any help please....I have transferred my ringtones over from the EVO and they show up in the ringtones option under sound in settings but . . . .

And for those who still haven't found the answer here it goes.

On the Contacts app select the contact you need, press menu key and select options this will take you to another screen with contact specific options. Assign the desired ringtone from the drop down menu on that page.

Fanboy - I am new to Android and my biggest issue was getting my outlook contacts from my PC onto my Nexus - I was able to do this with Missing Sync which seems to work great.... unfortunately it puts it into the stock Android contacts program which is dark and lame.... are there "skins" available for this or is there a better contact manager that you recommend?

It took me a while to get use to NOLED but I finally figured it out. It's great that it visually alerts as well as chirps at you that something has come in. That is what I missed most from my Palm Pre.

i'm iffy on noled - took awhile to get it to work -finally got it going but now i'm not getting notifications on txts. i think because i started using google voice - i have to dig deeper on the settings.

sometimes i see 'add to dictionary' when i copy - but not always. is there a way to select a word or group of words and add to dictionary?

Under the settings if you go to "Toggle Notifications" and then "Monitored Apps" you can select "Google Voice" and then it will notify you about messages thru that as well.

how do you cope w/ the very basic camera app?

my mom is dead set on getting this as her first smart phone, but I know she'd much more enjoy HTC sense. but the feel of this phone is winning her over. have any suggestions?

This is what I ended up purchasing to add functionality to the camera.

After coming from 2 Sense based phones (Hero and Evo) I can say for me there is only one thing that Sense provides that you can not get out of the Nexus S- Facebook Integration/Friendstream. Unless you mom needs that all Sense functionality can be replicated, actually improved, through apps. And a good camera app is really the only one that would need to be purchased, at least I have not found a decent free one that provides zoom and good functionality.
