I went ahead an posted a HOW TO on that one cause I think its been asked several times now.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

swype keyboard is too big to fit on screen.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Ok so in your guys opinion, what is the best rom to use that dosent eat up battery life so fast? CyanogenMMattV is a horrible battery eater, wont even last me a day.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

That is the million dollar question

Like I've said before, the original CM7 that was posted (2.3.7) has been great for me and I go a full day without having to charge.

I've had great batttery with the oxygen v1.1. Usually get around 20 hours with lite to moderate use

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

I have the LG P506 - Thrive,

I tried the gingercruzt 1.5 with joban's kernel 2.08 , yesterday, seems to be working, except the wifi is giving problems, also I think my battery meter is not accurate anymore, and there's an annoying half blue/black wallpaper, when you go into settings, etc. it's not going away even after I made my wallpaper all black. Aside from that, it seems to be working, even both my bluetooth headsets.

I too got the airplane mode/network force close errors with the initial cm7 in the first post - it didn't appear until all my apps were loaded and I thought I was home free, and also got the intermittent bluetooth connections, it connected fine with my older bluetooth motorola H300 and struggling with the new one, samsung HM3500.

From that earlier post, they mentioned MIUI themed cm7 2.3.5, it also seems to work for me, but graphics looks squashed on my small fone, also the fonts are too small for me, I believe I tried spare parts to make the fonts larger but nothing happened. I like the looks of the first CM7 in this post the best, if only airplane mode and bluetooth worked.

Sonygen and cyanomatt did not work for me. I couldn't even get clockwork recovery to run from within the Sonygen, I had to do the hardware recovery boot.

So right now, I'm using gingercruzt with a wifi that doesn't connect, but my mobile data connection works, which I can live with since I can use this fone as it's intended. I like the built in cm7 goodies, like more options in settings, tethering, screenshot, I'm sure there's more I'll find, and no unremovable junkware and spyware ;) installed by the carrier, also the built in radio works now.

Currently I am using CyanogenMMatt v1.1 on my 505 it has a few minor glitches such as the wifi turns off when the screen turns off [can be fixed with a setting inside the wifi setting] and with some programs it can cause com.android.phone FC error. The biggest issue with this ROM is the battery life. However there are a few things you can do to improve this. First set the CPU performance to ondemand. Second turn the Wifi on so that its on all the time whenever your connected (this will keep your phone from constantly searching for a better tower to link up to when your in range of a wifi hotspot. Dim the screen a bit. And finally do the battery stat reset I talked about in previous posts. If you do all these things this ROM is pretty good. Yes the bluetooth is still a bit of a power hog and no it wont last more than 24hrs on normal use (at least not in my experience) but it is the least likely to to go belly up on you.

Ok, i will do this right now, and i dont even use bluetooth anyway so i dont need to worry about that :D What does wiping the battery stats do?

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

When you wipe the battery status you need to make sure you have the battery fully charged or you will have to do it all over again. Basically wiping the battery resets how much charge the phone will let the battery have, its terribly complicated becasue of how lithium ion batteries charge but long story short each OS version handles the data a little differently so a good practice is to clear the battery cache between ROM just to be sure. I was getting about 6 hrs of use out of mine before I cleared mine now I get around 12-18 with pretty heavy usage.

Dammit, my battery needs to be fully charged before i wipe the stats? -_- Lol, ok. now i know what to do :D Thanks for your help

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

yep I think I said that in my previous post like 10,000 pages ago ... didn't you catch that ? :P

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Lol, not really, i didnt notice joban answered my questions either XP But thanks XD

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

its all good I had to read back through the posts one day to find a link and was ready to scream by the time I found what I was looking for. As soon as we get everything all finalized I'm going to do a couple more How-To's on all this stuff.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Thanks Donovan, I charged to 100% then reset the batt stats, do I have to let it run down to 0% and reset it again? Feels like the battery is draining more than stock. Also, tried to use my samsung bluetooth, and it connects, audio works plays mp3, etc, but doesn't connect with the phone dialer, even though bt connection indicates it's connected to phone audio. Also, my wifi sometimes works now and sometimes doesnt. I also notice I can't set screen brightness in Quick Settings, I have to use the built in settings where you also have the option to do automatic brightness.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

yeah the phone will make its own new stats you fully charge and reset it. Dont pay much attention to the battery meter for now it will got crazy till it figures itself out after a charge or too it should normalize.

Sorry guys but news look a lil lost for ICS for the P500/505
andy's words
'ok boys and girls, hw acceleration isnt possible without following things:

we need
- new userspace drivers (adreno200 libs)
- new firmware (yamato files in /etc/firmware)
- new kgsl drivers in kernel

without that, we cant run ics with 3D.

for me this means, i'stop here and stop to invest a lot of time for ics to get it
work in a good quality. i'm sorry for that, but it makes currently absolutly no sense
to develop for 2D only... its not better as a sdk port!"

But we shouldnt lose faith but cyanogen will come through and we ll get a port for sure! :)
