LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: Phone is overheating and battery is draining!

But wouldn't you see which app is draining the battery in the battery page under settings?

Not necessarily. If it's running and misbehaving in the background, unrooted phones are harder to diagnose for those type issues.

Honestly I didn't install any new apps lately

Re: LG G4 battery life isn't as great as those reviewers said

My 3 day old G4 may get an hour and a half with just regular internet, not downloading, main usage is the screen and chrome. When i plug in to charge while still using my battery percentage will never increase, may even go down a percent or two while plugged in. I have to bring a charger wkth me or the phone is worthless. ??

Re: Phone is overheating and battery is draining!

An app going wild should appear on the battery stats and they look pretty normal. As someone said before, run your phone on safe mode after a full charge. If the problem persists I think it's time for a factory reset or directly a replacement.

For how long should I run It on safe mode and how do I get into safe mode on the G4?

Ugh, part of me is comforted by seeing that others are having similar battery issues like me. As much as it pained me, I went ahead and returned mine just now back to Best Buy. I wanted to just exchange it, but they didn't have any leather-back ones in stock. :(

Re: Phone is overheating and battery is draining!

The method could depend on your carrier. These are the instructions from T-Mobile.

https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-21962

With such a big battery drain you won't need much time to know if the safe mode is making any difference.

That's what I'd do. Full charge, use your phone normally until there's ~50% of battery left and then take some battery screenshots (including SoT). Full charge again, boot into safe mode and do the same than before. Then compare the battery stats.

Edit. Maybe you won't need so much time. Just check if your phone is still getting hot or suffering any lag.

Been telling y'all....it's the Tmo My Account app. It starts to use the GPS and never stops. If you force stop it, it'll just start right back.

I do have an LG G Watch, that syncs over bluetooth. I'm wondering if that is what is using Google Play Services.

Nice call on Google Photos, I had it set to back up my photos over wifi.

Still, even with those things enabled, I'd expect better battery life. Does disabling those two things set my battery to be more in line with what other people are seeing? Want to make sure I don't have a dud. I am still in my 14 day return window, but it ends tomorrow.

Are you using Google Fit? I disabled on my Nexus 6 as it seemed my battery was dying faster and read somewhere that it was lagging other phones. Google Play Services was using 15% of my battery but after a few days after disabling it, it was down to 5%.

Re: Phone is overheating and battery is draining!

I'm going by what the OP said, that is he had it since 5/28/2015, practically 2 months.

:)

T-Mobile's G4 hasn't been out for 2 months... oO Heck, not even the international version has been out for that long!

All Verizon LTE phones are GSM unlocked :)

Yeah I'm getting just under 3 hours SoT with about 11-12 hours on battery total. I noticed it gets really warm next to the volume rockers on the back when I watch videos.. i'm wondering if some of these units are defunct. Mines a verizon i bought unlocked at bestbuy.

Today is 6/18/2015 and even it was 6/28/2015 that makes it just "1" month old not 2

Owned since 5/28/15 would be 3 weeks, if I'm following correctly. Don't try to make summer go by even quicker! ;)

Dt ignite. I've seen this. What is it? I'll disable it if it's not needed!

Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk

I would highly recommend disabling it. When your phone is new, you don't have those silly games on there and somehow DTIgnite pulls them or installs them or whatever.

I noticed that the on the first phone that I reset 6 times. If I disable DTIgnite quickly, those silly games are not in my downloaded app manager and if I get busy doing something else...bam! All those games are downloaded.

There was a whole T-Mobile thread where T-Mobile pushed DTIgnite as part of an update so they can push apps on people's phones without any issues. I'm not sure how much of that is true but from what I've seen...that makes sense.
