Reasons why not to support Rom Manager anymore

You can do nandroid backups with real names in cwm, it just takes a few extra steps. After you do your nandroid, boot phone, plug into pc with debugging on, mount sd card, go to clockworkmod folder, go to backups, right click on your nandroid and choose rename. Done. No more need for rom manager.

Understood, and that's exactly what I do now. It is a PITA and it can only be done when I have a computer handy.

I am just trying to figure out what this news means and looking for answers for these questions.

Putting bad feelings about the RM Fascinate support situation aside, I REALLY like ROM Manager and hope to see it working for us once again. I would not have purchased the Premium version if I didn't like what the program did - I believe in supporting developers of programs I find useful.

I know this is a "Boycott ROM Manager and Trash Koush" thread but it looks like he has responded to the feedback and has done something about it. I am just trying to figure out what it means.

Aside for the "koush is garbage" stuff, this thread is good. If you hack your phone, take some responsibility for it. Always do the right research, and have the proper drivers and files ready. I say this for the readers, not the posters. Android is like any other open source project. No one heads the company, and anyone can write code, place apps in the market. Yes, it is a real bad side effect of Android, but it also made it what it is today.

If he worked for Apple or MS, sure, but he doesn't. Android, it is what it is, and you my friend can load a app and stick 5 bucks on it too. AC should take the high road on this one, as Koush is the bomb until a blurb with a device happens. He DOES need to put "fascinate is not supported" in the app itself, that I agree.

Trust me, if there is anyone who knows what a brick is, Gunnermike53 does. He is the Fascinate forums official guinea pig who tries all kinds of crazy crap on his phone to see if it will work and has bricked his phone more times than I care to imagine. He even purposefully tries to brick his phone. This is all done for the benefit of these forums so 1) He can warn everyone DON'T DO THIS IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE; and 2) He has helped too many people to count in getting out of bricked situations because through his experimenting and experience he pretty much knows how to repair any kind of brick. He is an invluable asset to these forums.

Johnly appears to be supporting Koush regardless of what he said. Charge 5 bucks, say what you want, treat people like poo...but its all good because its Android.

That said, Koush did finally work with some SF devs yesterday and cwr 3.x is out for the Fascinate. Some things are still broken, like fix permissions. I tweeted how for him to fix it. So the ball is once again in his court.

I don't care about koush. I do understand people are upset, and with good reason. I am just trying to play devils advocate if you will. Koush is super busy helping Android be that much better. I am sure he doesn't hate the fascinate, and will get a solution. I trend to go easy on developers, they don't need drama. I love Koush bootstrap, it has made my X the best. I am not thorning anyone, I am of a different perspective, so the thread is a little more rounded now. K
