Regarding Dec. 9 no longer being the unofficial date

Just checked Cell Phones - Smartphones: Cell Phone Service, Accessories - Verizon Wireless
It looks like they updated it for 12/9, and it does have the Droid XYBoard, but no Galaxy Nexus. Heartbreak hurts.

Edit:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...//www.verizon.com/galaxynexus/&token=E23KyYPA Is no longer available. Good news, maybe?

Unfortunately, it's working just fine. The address is http://smartphones.verizonwireless.com/nexus/

EDIT: I should have said, the sign-up page is/has been working just fine tonight. I've never tried the address you are using.

Bad news bro. They are canceling it and recalling all phones back to HQ.

Ah, makes sense. It's still a bit odd that this page would suddenly stop working. Might just be site issues, though, since the Droid XYBoard page doesn't seem to be working for myself or a friend of mine.

For whatever it's worth, the page at vzw.com/galaxynexus redirects right to shop.verizonwireless.com/?id=Samsung%20Nexus - by design. Funny that they wouldn't redirect us to the signup page...

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe today could be the big day after all.

I will still check with my some what local VZ store in the morning.

Phones are shipped, trainings held, OTA update already scheduled for as soon as phones are activated. I can't imagine that they are going to sell so many that it'll knock down "America's Most Reliable Network". A lot of the country still doesn't even have 4G coverage. Sad to say, in my mind, I know you may be right and that kills me.

It's not about knocking down the network it's about actually activating the phone.

The issues we were having yesterday were preventing or delaying the activation of 4G phones and the Droid RAZR was having SIM card authentication problems. They are NOT going to do a 4G phone launch in the middle of that can you imagine how irritated the customers wll be. A 4G phone can take up to 15-20 mins to activate under normal conditions, now add this to the mix and you are asking for trouble.

I'm guessing to give Droid 4 a launch then release the nexus on Monday like the razr and rezound launch....

Boy I'm about ready to call this quitting time.... CES just around the corner. So

Nope, Droid 4 is Dec 22 -- you're a leaked roadmap behind ;)

October 2009, actually, but you're right, I missed a whole year. 26 months. In any case, still completely ridiculous. How'd you like to be a Droid 3 buyer right now? Didn't that just come out 5 months ago?

I am one and it is no worse than being a Bionc owner (I'm one of them too) but the D3 and Bionic have one very important thing over the D4 and RAZR -- a removable battery. While I have been impressed with battery life on the RAZR so far, I know I could never use it as my Daily Driver because I have to be able to replace the battery on long days or when I am in areas with low network reception. D4 will be the same.

Yes, but the one year started back on November 17th when it released in Europe. Just give us the phone. If it's an LTE issue, I'll be happy to use on 3G until they fix it.

Doesn't work that way, the sim card issue would prevent the phone from being activated at all in most cases and at the least make it take longer even for phones not in a 4G area.

I did some quick scanning across the message board. I've read people with Bionics having the issue, and just recently have seen a couple people with HTC Rezounds losing 4G in a known-to-be-strong 4G area.

My earlier theory folds - this does seem to be a 4G issue not limited to Motorola devices, in which case the delay is probably a good idea. Maybe. I'd still be happy to have the phone on WiFi and 3G speeds, knowing that 4G will be working eventually.

No but the SIM card authentication error seemed to be. Out of curiosity has anyone with at Samsung Stratosphere or Galaxy Tab 10.1 had that error? those are the only three (as far as I know) devices using MicroSIM's? Was wondering earlier today if that could have something do do with it. at all since I didn't have it on my Xoom or Bionic which are both Moto but use full sized sims.

EDIT: scratch that theory, just saw the post from bworley50 about the Stratosphere

They did announce it... to come out by the end of the year. Next time, they need to do it like Apple. Make sure you have your ducks in a row before you announce it.

Newsflash: It's not the end of the year yet. Stock is in stores, it will be out by then,

Just lost 3G on my Rezound (4G doesn't reach out to the outskirts of my town).
I highly doubt this is all connected, but things don't seem to be against us right now.

okay... then explain why the DROID 4, a 4G device with verizon's beloved DROID label... which, btw, most people who aren't nerds like us think all android phones are droids, so it's a big phone... is still scheduled to be released tomorrow.

The Droid 4 isn't launching until Dec 22, people are still quoting n old leaked release timeline.

Not all DROID devices get massive marketing campaigns. The D2G, and D3 were all announced the day of release or the day before. The D4 will be no different. In the grand scheme of Verizon's business model all but the first Moto Droid are but blips on the radar screen and one small part of a much larger lineup.

My question is why has there not been an official date announcement? If they are in stores and ready to go, why not announce it?

Many phones are not announced until release day or the day before like the D2G and D3 were. This isn't that uncommon

I stopped into my Verizon store earlier and asked if they were selling them tomorrow. The guy said 'Yes' and then said 'soon' (he has an accent so that could explain the confusion). I asked if he was sure because I heard it was coming out tomorrow and he said something about not hearing any info yet but had that 'dude I'm pulling your leg look on his face'. and as I was leaving he said 'watch TV'. So maybe an ad blitz starts tomorrow or something. I did leave feeling better though because when I was in there 2 weeks ago he had never heard of the phone, he doesn't strike me as the phone blog/forum type so Verizon has told him something about it. I may call and ask again tomorrow anyway or stop by the Best Buy to see what they have to say on the matter.
