[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

Admins: Please, please, PLEASE add a multi-quote feature! It's a real pain to quote all of these, across multiple pages, by copy-and-pasting, then back, then copy-and-pasting... :(

Thanks for the book k0nane, nobody will ever accuse you of short handing anyone on a response.. LOL.. Really thanks.

The multiquote...

Look between "Quote" and "Quick Reply" you will see another set of quote marks in brown color.. That's your multi quote...Just click the ones you want to quote and move on then hit your Post Reply button and your problems are solved. ;)

Flash ROM with syndicate no contacts widget or my files?

I just flashed my epic 4g with the syndicate ROM 1.1.0. The 2 things that i used alot were the "my files" and the scrolling contact widget that came with the phone. Also sprint navigation too. Anyway i can get these back? Thanks!

My files was replaced w/ adao file browser, which is much more functional imo. My files and Sprint Nav (now called Telenav) can both be flashed through the stock apps .apk available on the xda thread.

Did you wipe cache and dalvik-cache after flashing the addon? Did you try re-downloading it? Did you try "fix permissions" in CWM? Others have had no issues with the addon, it's odd it wasn't working for you.

I don't think I tried any of that at that point on that current flashing of SRF. When I first started getting FCs it was on the internet browser alone, so I had tried to use the cache wiping/"fix permission" on that and it worked when opening the browser a couple times, but the FCs came back. I want to say that all I had added at that point was AMLauncher (which, if anyone knows if it's still being updated, that'd be awesome) and the sprint app pack from the XDA thread. The last thing I added was the AOSP lock screen and the moment I tried to do anything with the phone I got the mass of FC popups.

Before I got to that, I had been going through the trial and error of cache wiping, permission fixing, and all that and I had just gotten fed up with it and did a full wipe and started over.

On the fresh install, I flashed the same as above (except the lock screen), then one of the themes (I think midnight blue), then the lockscreen. Got another FC. Reflashed SRF over that, flashed Emotionless Beast, then the other addons I mentioned earlier, and finally the lockscreen I posted earlier. I don't know why this worked, but I've only had the phone lock up on me once so far, so I figured I'd share it. I don't pretend to know more than what I've gotten through my trial and error. Btw, thanks for the info on how to turn on journaling. Gonna do that til I'm certain the kinks have been ironed out.

bad freezes

I've been running this mostly trouble-free for the last few days.

Today I had a freeze while in Google Navigation, right when I rotated from vertical to horizontal. No choice but to pull the battery.

After reboot, the tilt sensors are no longer working. I have no screen rotation, and the GPS Status app shows zero tilt in any direction no matter how I move the unit.

I've tried wiping cache and Dalvik cache with no change.

Several threads elsewhere on this issue say to delete ms3c_yamaha.cfg, then run calibration. However, when I try to rm this file I get this error:

"rm failed for ms3c_yamaha.cfg. I/O error"

trying to run sensorcalibutil_yamaha starts the utility, but then right after saying "Starting calibration utilities..." I get:

access: I/O error
msmachdep_Init failed
calibration utilities failed

Yes, I am rooted (obviously, on SRF), and yes I su'ed before attempting these commands.

So here are my questions:

1. Has any one else experienced freezes when rotating?
2. Short of wiping and reflashing, is there anything else I can do to recover my sensors?
3. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

i had the rom for 2 days and all was going well untill the third day. my phone frozed on me while on the web so i took battery out and rebooted. 30 minutes later it frozed by itself and i didnt find out till i looked at my phone, it was pretty darn hot like if it was on 1.4ghz the whole time it was frozen. i whent to bonsai and loving the battery life.

You should have followed the step in the second post before switching unnecessarily, and flashed the other kernel for people with freezing issues. ;) Or tried VisionKernel.

k0nane, the NanDroid backup of SFR 1.1.0 w/Bionix Black theme and immediate turn around full wipe & restore of my backup has seemed to hold up well so far today. I even switched to the Blue Neon Night theme and that went very well.

Maybe the journaling ON option is exactly what I needed all along :)

Maybe I can be a more happy person again and quit my venting in threads (LOL) now that my device seems to be doing better...

After I switched up, my smartkeyboard pro started acting really funny. It lags and a lot of times, particular keys can't be pressed. Anyone have any idea how to solve this? Or is there a keyboard out there that is best for ext4/syndicate?

First of all thanks for all of the hard work put into this!

Yes yes, newbie here..... But I am having one issue that I am not sure what to do.... When I text and am in 4G territory, my text doesnt send. It just sits there saying sending. Now I am seeing new texts sit there on 3G too.

If I reboot it seems to clear.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

are you using a task killer or clearing level 2 ram in the task manager? if so thats the problem its killing a service that the mms app uses, what you can do is force close messenger in manage applications and they will send without having to reboot.

Well after several days of running smoothly on 1.1.0, I had my first lockup. Was on maximumpc.com through Dolphin Browser HD and switched to landscape orientation and then it froze. Had to do a battery pull. Since then, DBHD is totally screwed. Keeps crashing every time I open it. Even tried a reinstall. I think I'm going to reflash this ROM and turn the journaling on. Was reading earlier and wanted to do it while I was at work, but didn't. I'm kicking myself now.

before reflashing try clearing the data for dolphin..

I've been running this rom without problem for about 4 days now, so far this is my favorite rom I've tried. Very fast and smooth. I'm also using the vision kernel, set at 1000/200 on demand. Today I tried the blue midnight theme (wiped both cache 5x) I've had trouble wish other themes, so wish me luck. So far I'm really liking this theme/rom combo!

I'm so jealous. I've tried NUMEROUS times and can't get that darned theme to work for me...

Forgot to mention that I already tried that. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

Try the journaling on method by creating the Nandroid backup and restore Don. It seems to be working very well for me... Unfortunately you may have to reflash the ROM right now to get out of this Dolphin Browser FC issue unless anyone else has options?

Back up and running now Paul. Just reflashed, backed up, and now restored. Let's see how it all goes.
