[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

I did this first to root and get to ext4.

Once there I wiped 3 times each (dalvik, cache, data) and then flashed SyndicateROM frozen 1.0.1.

Sounds like you need to look up some guides on unbricking your phone if odin still isn't working for you. Once you get back to a stock DI18, you can upgrade to EB13 just then do what I did.

Right, that is what I figured so i went ahead and did that.

And the only thing that changed was that I could not boot into recovery anymore.

out of all the roms i have tried this is the best so far crazy fast!!! almost matches my brothers stock atrix quadrant score

Just as a random observation to the battery life claims of this ROM: I was getting pretty bad lifetimes with this ROM on v1.0 but right after I updated to 1.01, I also followed the tips here: Calibrate Battery thread - This is how you do it! [Archive] - xda-developers using the powered off charge method.

After that, I was consistently ending the day at around 50% with normal use. Last night, I forgot to plug my phone in and woke up today to it being around 30%, after about 24hrs off the charger, so the claims of 30% aren't that far off.

I see the app widget picker.apk that was in 1.0 isn't in 1.0.1.... I wonder if that was because it didn't play nice with the update???

I can go 24hours on a charge with a stock rooted eb13 with light usage after installing the screen filter app to allow me to dim my screen further. However I would love to get more speed, thinking about fashing with this over the weekend but it is VERY IMPORTANT that I verify that wireless tetherng works or even wired tetheing I don't care I just have to have that working.

Can anyone confirm that it functions properly and what app are you using to do so?

The ROM comes with both wifi and wired tether, and wifi has worked out of the box for me. Just gotta make sure to set device from Auto to Epic 4G before using. There's also a flashable wifi fix zip for those having issues with it.

I flashed the 3 included fixes for this version and the wifi tether that came with the fully loaded version worked for me twice. I really don't use it or depend on it, just wanted to verify it's function.

WiFi tether works for me as well. Wired tether fc's, but that's ok. Standard.

Yeah, I actualy tried the wifi tether last night and got it set up and all with wireless security and everything. Works flawlessly. Upon reading your post, I tried the wired tether and just like with your experience, it force closes every time. Don't know what the issue is with that but it's really no big deal. As long as wireless tether works, it's all good for me.

how to use odin?

Syndicate itself doesn't require Odin to flash.

No matter what your current state is on your device you can do the following to get you ready to flash Syndicate.

Go to the link below and follow the directions, grab the download files needed for "Stock EB13 Deodexed EXT4 + CW 3.0.0.6". Then come back and follow Ragnarokx's directions on installing using Odin.

Froyo EB13 Pre-Rooted, Deodexed, with Clockwork - RFS & EXT4

Once you have finished the install using Odin you can flash in CWM, the Syndicate zip file and your done.

I am already on ext4 file system and have cwm 3.0.0.6 or something like that. I followed the guide for rooting eb13 after I did the update.zip install of eb13. I did all steps correctly (did not require odin). but when I try to verify that I have the ext4 file system nothing is returned when I enter the code in the terminal emulator. I do and am 100% certain that I have the cwm 3.0.0.6 installed as I have the orange letters when I boot into it. So if I have the cwm 3.0.0.6 installed does that mean I am 100% on an ext4 file system?

Reason I asked about odin is because I heard you can do a backup using odin and go back to what you previosly had installed if things dont go as planned.

I have titanium, and my backup root. Am I set with those 2 programs or should I back up some other way before flashing this rom/kernal?

Its sounds like your fine concerning CWM 3.0.0.6/EXT4 conversion.

You can use the programs you mentioned to backup your apps/data, whatever you like to restore if need be once you flash Syndicate.

Before you do flash Syndicate or any ROM we always recommend you make a NanDroid Backup in CWM (Thats what they call it in CWM) so you have something to restore to in case something flashes improperly and causes device FC's, etc..

Once you are done making your backups then you can proceed with flashing Syndicate or the ROM of your choice.

Thank you. The term "nandroid backup" was killing me, i thought it was a separate app that i needed to download, i did not realize it was just a backup done with CWM. i was googling all over the place trying to find the nandroid app.

Thanks for your help, i will do the flash in the morning i have had tooo much to drink to do it now. lol..

Rom Flashed! not as painful as i thought it would be (titanium backup is great!)

First impressions after all the syncing is that this thing is SMOOOOOTH!

my battery life is not so great but i have not re calibrated it yet (i did to the flash with a full charge) and my screens brightness was set to automatic which usually kills the battery pretty quick. So i will report back later on the battery after its all calibrated and fully charged again.

But as of now i am loving the lag free operation.

how can i get eclair theme or TER theme for my messaging app? i hate bubbles. i want a theme that has mostly blacks, like ACE and TER.

You would have to find a themed MMS .apk that works with this ROM.

Personally I grabbed GoSMS from the market and use their dark theme with a list style conversation. All colors and fonts are customizable with GoSMS so you can tweak to your liking.

Here is how I have mine setup:

This is in the setting menu to preview your changes. If you pull the little tab up all the options are right there so you can see exactly what each thing does.
