[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

Please don't think I am a complete dummy. I do not have a clue if I have 3.0. I downloaded the "standard" version.

I figured out my issue using the wireless tether 3.0. I noticed that the DNS settings in it were configured to use googles dns servers. I switched primary and secondary DNS in the tether program to use open dns. It works like a charm!

primary should be: 208.67.222.222
secondary should be: 208.67.220.220

Something similar happened to me yesterday. My phone was almost out of battery (<5%) and rebooted itself on it's own. When it came back on it just kept giving me Force Close messages. My launcher, my clock, my widgets, nothing would start. I had to wipe and start over to get it back working.
I was using 1.0.2 Standard that I flashed over 1.0.1 Standard.

OK, I have looked for 1.0.1 Standard. I have had no luck, the links that I have found are dead links. Can anyone tell me where to find 1.0.1 Standard, please.

I had a similar problem on 1.0.1 standard, I said eff it and went to stock eb13. But I did save a preconfigured 1.0.1 backup just incase there was an update for this rom.

So today I installed the 1.0.2 over my 1.0.1 nandroid back up and all seems good. However I am afraid to run the batteries down til it shuts off on it's own as this seems to trigger the FC problem that can only be fixed with a reflash. I love the speed, it sem faster than 1.0.1 I just hope its stable!

On this Rom you should not let the phone shut itself off due to low battery, or pull the battery unless absolutely necessary. Always keep a backup of your data to restore if this starts happening. Because it is an EXT4 rom with journaling disabled if your phone improperly shuts down you can experience data corruption causing all the FC issues. They are currently working on an update based on EC05, they have said there will be a version with journaling enabled, which should dramatically cut down on this problem.

Hope this helps.

That explains every single problem I have had with this rom. Wish I had known that from the start. When I was having the wifi tether issue it would reboot out of nowhere.

Ya you should stay away from tings that do not have journaling as it will muk stuff up really bad if you do a battery pull or is something locks up and forces a reboot... other then that not so bad i am on 1.0.1 and also use ace on my other epic I would wait to update this till they get the next version out with journaling

Yes. Which, IMHO, is a terrible feature to have in a smartphone.

Does journaling slow the rom down any? Could this be part of the reason this rom is so damn fast?

I just did a fully configured nandroid backup so if ish goes wrong it would only be a inconvienance vs a nightmare.

well been running this for a few days literally just about constantly. Been flawless. Had one issue that was fixed with a reboot that as far as I can tell was caused by Opera. Battery life was without a doubt better on ACE, espcially when in sleep mode, but by no means is bad considering how heavily I've been using it. Not a single FC yet. Been buttery smooth even with 58 shortcuts across 6 homescreens at last count. Everything simply works. It's my official build until CM7 becomes usable, even then it comes down to how well they can get CM7 working. I wish i stll had the batt. life ACE gave me, but I'm satisfied overall.

bonsai 4.0 has great battery life. im torn between trying SRF but after reading all the stuff about powering off screwing up data and all the fc's... idk. bonsai is working great for me, totally custom themed (i did a LOT of tweaks on it to make it look like i wanted), and to give all that up to start over on a rom that seems to be... good at best. idk. if they come out with a version with journaling enabled.. i'll def try it. I'm thinkin about switchin but i probably wont.

You only have to worry about data corruption if you do a battery pull, and it's much more stable since k0nane removed the modified libsqlite in version 1.0.1. I like SRF because besides being crazy fast, battery life is stellar (15+ hours with heavy use, 24+ hrs with light use no problem) and I hate TW so I like that it comes without. FCs were fixed with a map flash, 1.0.2 is now completely bug free :)

Yeah, I have been running the new version since it came out and have had no issues. As far as the Rom being buggy, it isn't at all. The data corruption can happen on any non journaling EXT4 Rom. But like I said in my earier post, a new update with journaling enabled is on the way so if that is your only worry then you could wait till then. I'm probably going to stick with journaling off for now, but that might change the first time I have data corruption, lol.

what does this journaling do anyways? i have no idea what it is, except that is off in this rom and not in others. im about to DL a copy of this and port my theming onto it and try it.. but im just curious as to whats so special about it.

Great Job -- best ROM I've tried.

My only issue is the FC on apps that use maps. I can't find the map fix file that for 1.0.1 that has solved the problem in some cases.
