[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

After a completly clean install I started geting force closes one after another, couldnt even send sms messages. 1.0.1 was more stable

Not sure what the problem could be but I am happy to know I am not the only one with this problem. I am going to try and install fully loaded now as I normaly installed the standard version.

I normaly add Adw launcher and widget locker to the mix along with advanced task killer, not sure if some of those are contributing to the problem. I just dont like the included launcher and lock screen in the rom.

I might like the fully loaded version better as I can live with touchwiz and I can also live without advanced task killer but widget locker is definety a must for me.

I would love to know if any of you who decided to wipe wipe wipe and reflash 1.0.2 from scratch are still getting force closes after a few hours of use?

I am not sure if I should just switch to ACE rom or just go back to "GASP" Eclair... I need my phone fully functional for 20 straight days for a trip I am going to in which I am going to need the camera, GPS and some video games (longass plane ride) working whenever I want to... I've flashed syndicate rom 1.0.1 three different times and each time I got a different problem. Images in the gallery were showing up as broken or problems while running spectral souls.

I thought 1.0.2 was going to be the answer to all my problems but it just got much, much worse.. should I just go to eclair? at least the frigging thing is stable

It seems like there's been a bunch of problems with 1.0.2, I'm waiting for him to iron out the bugs before I flash. I've gotten 1.0.1 set up nicely and it's rock solid stable, so I'm not trying to mess with it. Plus, I don't really see any must-have features in 1.0.2 (though correct me if I'm wrong about this).

well, not sure if a coincidence or not but i just wiped everything out and reflashed 1.02 and first thing i did was run the battery icon app and selected one of the Epic dk28 ones...

i rebooted and got a gmail fc error....not all the errors as before but i did get this one fc error....

can it be the battery icon app is causing the probs? (for me anyways)

problem solved....

i picked one of the battery icons from within 'epic 4g' and was getting a slew of fc errors on the reboot....

keeping the stock battery circle icon or any of the other icons from within the 'syndicate' section has stopped my fc issues....i also see the usual options available again when holding down the power button...

I just flashed this out of boredom. No offense to Paul ,but I def like it better overall than ACE. My phone simply SCREAMS now. Benchmarks are hugely improved, usability is way up, I run LWPs that used to make me lag with no issue whatsoever.

I can also confirm that its the battery icon app that causes the problems, after uing it I couldn't even get my phone to boot and had to reflash. Without using it its rock solid thus far.

Can't stand the TW lockscreen so I may flash a new theme (cnsidering honeycomb fusion), but its a great ROM all around. I'll see how battery life is througout the day, but so far seems about the same as ACE for me.

@thebullfrog, hey no offense taken. I always recommend everyone test drives all ROMs.. You don't know what is out there until you try them.

Just did wipe ,wipe, wipe yesterday even though I was on 1.0.1,, just wanted a clean install..

Very impressed, this thing screams !!!! checked almost everything, gps, wireless, txt, etc... and no issues at all

Quadrant after a reboot =1899 of course it varies



Btw I just came from Midnight, whch is also an amazing rom

I hit 1757 on mine and im running 1.0.2 and with the honeycomb fusion theme, and it just moves faster than any rom ive tried.

Yep I think that's what I'll do instead of a full theme. I also flashed the swirl boot screen from ACE. I might change the launcher too but haven't decided.

I just did a reboot and and ran quadrant again for the hell of it. Got just over 2000. I know its meaningless, but it was fun to say I was finally able to do it lol.

Also, where can I grab just the aosp lockscreen and flash it?

I'm mobile right now so copying links isn't the easiest. Check XDA, either the Themes/Apps section or the Development section for Epic 4g. There should be a thread there.. Just make sure its the one for CIQ Removal-Bonsai/Syndicate ROMs.

I've been on 1.0.0, 1.0.1, and now 1.0.2. Never had any problems with any of them except 1 time my phone locked up while playing a previously recorded video under 1.0.1. Had to pull the battery which caused data corruption I guess, because video player began to force close after that. I did a NAND restore and all was fine.

Now under 1.0.2 Video playback seems to be locking up the phone quite a bit, with the only resolution being pull the battery. Thankfully no Force closes are resulting from 1.0.2 however. I figured that maybe my phone can't handle the over clock so I am moving it back down to 1ghz to see if that helps.

I think I found the thread: [MOD][How To][EB13][3/1/11] AOSP Lockscreen! with/out haptic / uninstallers / mods!! - xda-developers

But in the same post it says not to use those downloads with no CIQ and has links for bonsai/SRF to remove/replace the haptic which wouldnt be needed since you cant use it with bonsai/SRF. So I'm way to confused to screw with it unless somebody can tell me exactly what I would have to do.

So for some reason my YouTube app started FCing upon opening. I'm pretty sure I used it fine on this same ROM a few days ago, but I can't remember for sure. Anybody else experiencing this?

I also use WidgetLocker with the AOSP Lockscreen and Love it

I have a question about this Rom but cannot access the actual thread on xda. I did 10 posts hoping that would help but I don't know what to do now.
( It isn't as organized over there) If anyone knows how I can access that thread it would be a big help, or maybe someone knows the answer to my question-

I have read alot in the thread (but can't read it all its soo much!!) and saw some stuff about EXT4 causing data corruption if turned off incorrectly, including freezes, and I see where Impaler has said " just restore data and that will fix it" Which backup are they referring to? I just want to make sure I'm covered. I have my backup root - are they talking that ( and if so, which option?) or clockwork?

Well got a few hours in with this rom now. Battery life is....odd. maybe a calibration thing. At first it drops faster than with ACE, but drain seems to be tapering off with time. I'll see if fully draining then recharging gets it calibrated a bit more. Overall though it seems to use a bit more battery than ACE did, but not enough to offset the performance gain. Other than Pandora freezing and locking the phone (happened on ace too so I think its the app. It locks if I change volume between songs) it has been totally solid. I flashed in the AOSP lockscreen with no issues. I'm very happy with this rom, the phone just WORKS, and works very quickly. If battery life is first concern ACE might be a bit better, could also just be the difference between Twilight and Genocide kernels though.
