[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

I updated to EC05 OTA, and then rooted. I currently am RFS with CWM2.5. Will I be able to use the one-click from the XDA thread on this ROM to convert to ext4 and install CWM3? If not, what will be the quickest way to get this ROM loaded?

Yes, you will - remember to put the ROM on your SD card before converting to EXT4, as the stock kernel does not support it.

I have noticed an issue with setcpu though. It may be the kernel and not belong in this thread but thought I'd mention it. In both Performance and Ondemand It completely ignores the minimum setting and keeps dropping it to 100mhz. Even with min at 600 it still drops to 100. I use 100 for screen off since I dont have any issues on wake, but having it jumping from 1400 to 100 causes a lot of stuttering. It never touches the other steps, its from one extreme to the other. Setting the scaling to conservative fixes this, but everyone says conservative is broken with Vision (though Ive had no probs yet). I'd post on XDA, but I'm not allowed lol.

sweet thanks. Also not people have said that in conservative the video recorder gets funky, which it does, but its even worse for me in performance. I never really use it, but it is def. a lot choppier in performance for me than in conservative, but both are pretty bad. I know thomas is working on an update (it may already be out lol) so this may get worked out, but really its working far better for me in conservative which everyone else says is broken. Go figure.

On Demand is recommended for both Twilight Zone and VisionKernel. I'm not even sure Conservative is supposed to work on VK - it's not very stable on Twilight.

so i keep hearing, but like i said ondemand keeps acting up just jumping from 100 to 1400 completely ignoring my settings, whereas ive used conservative most of the day with no ill effect.

I know I'm a dummy, but what link am I downloading. I absolutely know nothing about this stuff but I'm gonna give it a try anyway...if someone will point me to the download link.

My Bluetooth will not connect! At first it was fine a little glitchy and now it won't pair at all, I tried reflashing the ROM and now it is worse, I drive tons, this is a big bummer for me
thx

Noob question, CWM3 from EC05

Sorry for the amateur question here, but I've managed to back myself into a corner. I am trying to install ACS Frozen and I went, per the suggestion here, to "procedure 2" to install CWM3 and get EXT4.

That procedure says that conversion to EXT4 requires EB13 but I am coming from (rooted) stock OTA EC05. Instructions in "procedure 2" refer to another thread to roll back to EB13.

Unfortunately, following those instructions got me to an "Error 7" when trying to flash EB13-stock-deodex.zip using CWM 2.5. I now understand that these instructions really were intended for those coming from DI28 (even though I was sent there from a thread about rolling back from EC05).

I've managed to restore some limited phone functionality (no data, though) by flashing what purports to be the stock EC05 build, again from CWM2.5.

I'd really like to get CWM3 installed and the file system converted so I can flash ACS Frozen, which is already sitting on my SD card.

Do I have any options now other than to Odin all the way back to DI28 or EB13 to run the CWM3 one-click?

Thanks in advance.

If your on EB13, RFS/CWM2.5.1.0 then ... Same goes for EC05 but you can ignore flashing the modem.

- Download and place this on your sdcard EB13 to EC05 modem flash - xda-developers.

- Run the OneClickRootCWM3-EB13.zip conversion.

- Then when the conversion is completed and your back in CWM 3.0.0.6, flash the modem updater your downloaded to get the EC05 modem.

- Then once that is completed, ignore the dual kernel flashing (that was for EB13) and instead wipe everything 3x and flash Syndicate.

We do need to update the whole process, it got so mixed up for about 2-3 week window EB13 and then EC05 and all the different ways you could come from OS to OS to end up in different ROMS/OS's... I apologize for that.

Blame Sprint/Sammy for that screw up of updates...

Thanks very much for the speedy reply. I will say that I could not get the above files to run on EC05.

I ultimately flashed the full EB13 tar with Odin, which got the phone back to a usable state (and Sprint immediately told me there was an upgrade available, to EC05), in order to get the CWM3 script to run without error. That got me to EXT4.

I then went back to Odin, per the ACS install instructions, to flash the EC05 modem, then booted into CWM3 to flash ACS Frozen. Unfortunately, even after several wipes/flashes, even going so far as to flash the kernel again on top of the ROM, I can't get past the SAMSUNG boot screen.

I will try the flashable EC05 modem you posted using CWM and see if that fixes my boot problem.

At least I am now confident that Odin runs on my machine and will let me restore to stock if need be. But I'd really like to just get this ROM running.

I had the same issue. You have to go ahead and flash the syndicate ext 4 ROM. You can't leave cwm 3 and just select reboot

I think after the conversion essentially there isn't a working Rom loaded until you flash a new ext 4. I may be wrong though

That is true.

Also I made the mistake of choosing update instead of install from the CWM 3 window. That caused me to get a boot loop.

After I chose install it worked fine.

Also I want to report that I'm at 72% battery with moderate use after being unplugged for almost 20 hours.

what is setcpu? is that another app i have to get from the market? or was it built into the synidcaterom? i just dont remember seeing it.

It's $1.99 in the market and well worth it. It lets you over/under clock your processor, as well as enable profiles that will do it automatically depending on circumstances.
