[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

I want to start off by giving a huge thank you to the guys over at ACS for cranking this out.

This is my first custom rom & it seems to work very well.
I had a couple questions, if anyone may know the answers.

1: What is the default CPU speed of this rom? If you don't use setcpu that is. And is setcpu worth using?

2: I was on EB13 rooted CWM 2.5 w/EC05 modem, I was useing an app called Wireless Tether that worked great. I need occasional access for my laptop. However this app does not recognise that the phone is rooted now with SRF 1.1.1 even though it is being granted access. It took a little tweaking in the settings but I got the Wifi Tether app that came with the rom to work without causing the phone to reboot as soon as it started to link up. But the Wifi Tether app starts the Sprint Hotspot app. Isn't that going to cost me money with Sprint? And any ideas why the Wireless Tether app doesn't see root?

Thanks.....

If your not using SetCPU or other equivalent app, then the default setting should still be 100-1000 which would give you the under volting for best battery life.

Wireless Tethering has always been a bit tricky depending on the laptop/computer and device. You may have to toy with the settings or even try a different build version of Wireless Tethering. The Sprint Hotspot may start but you will not be charged for it since your not using the Sprint Hotspot apps, etc... I never have been charged even with the hotspot running.
Check your Superuser app and make sure Wireless Tether is granted access. The first time you run Wireless Tethering it will ask for access on initial start and then also the first time you disconnect it will ask again to accept access. Then you should be good to go from there out.

To expand on this a bit, if I remember right, the reason Sprint Hotspot turns on is to make use of its Infrastructure features while using the free WiFi tether (allows tethered devices to "see" each other, like on a LAN).

Thanks Paul & Jinded, you were both very helpful.

Well guys and gals, what a great ROM from FS... I had to go into my overclock utility, set to 400 minimum and conservative to fix the not wake up problem, but now is very stable and solid going on a week now. If your pone will not wake up... pull battery, go into your overclock utility, set at 200 or 400 if 200 will not work, and set to conservative... problem solved. Enjoy

I just adjusted my SetCPU settings to your recommendation, hope the rom becomes more stable as well. I was getting errors with 1.1.0 where messaging and e-mail would stop working after a few days with a FC every time I tried to open them... I would have to re-flash the rom each time to repair the problem only to have it occur again a day or two later. I loaded 1.1.1 last night to give it a try and I was constantly having the screen go black and not wake up at random times. I really like what I see with this rom when it hasn't locked up on me, hope it becomes stable now :D

SRF 1.1.1 has been very stable for me AFTER I learned to use "conservative" on SetCPU 200/1200 - looks very nice with MattedBlues theme = give it a spin ;)

I have to echo this as well. I originally was set to "conservative," but I had profiles enacted that used powersave and performance scaling. I think this created the lock crashing for me.

And, btw, I did use the battery calibration tool (I don't see what's really different from erasing battery stats in CWM) and removed Ultimate Juice. I am starting to agree with you guys that JD really doesn't help battery life. I think it actually did with stock Eclair and stock Froyo, but now that I am rooted/MODed, I guess not.

i dont think my phone likes the EC05 modem. been getting some signal fades during calls, and i get 0-1 bar at the office now...battery life is draining quick..100%-80% in 2 hours

think i'll have to go back to EB13

You can flash the EB13 modem or even try the EE03 modem from Gingerbread leak. Poor signal does result in poor battery life. Normal stand by drainage should be in the 1-2 % per hr range. While in use, battery life will vary by user and what your doing.

For the GMail problem, I would suggest going into Settings > Applications > Manage > GMail, and clearing the cache/data.

Thanks, Jinded. We tried that yesterday, a few times, and it appears to make things betterer - but not all the way fixed...

I had this problem too, but it resolved itself in a couple of days...

*shrug*

Try going to settings, applications, all applications, find the clock app, click on it and hit clear data. See if that helps.

Missing

I have noticed a couple of things that are missing in the SRF and am not sure if they were intentionally done this way or just overlooked.

The first one is the ability to view contacts by groups. On the wife's Epic, when she clicks on contacts and then clicks the back arrow her phone opens three tabs: Contacts, Groups, Activities. I cannot get to that screen on my phone with SRF. When I am contacting a co-worker or doctor, I go to the group tab and display that group only to filter down my options. Now I cannot do that. This is not a major issue, but I was wondering why?

The second feature is in airplane mode. When my wife's Epic is in airplane mode, she can go back and turn on WiFi. On my phone, I can go in and select WiFi while in airplane mode, and the toggle says "on", but the toggle never lights up and WiFi never connects. My parents live in a dead zone. I am able to connect to their WiFi and stay in contact via Google Talk. But if I don't put the phone into airplane mode, the battery dies very quickly because it is constantly searching for service. Any ideas on this one?

I know that there was a third example, but for the life of me I cannot think of it right now!

Anyway, these are little quirks that annoy me about SRF, but nothing major. I love this ROM, but nothing is perfect.

i was using the stock wifi tether apk that came with this rom and it was working prefectly but now everytime i try to open wifi tether my phone freeezes and reboots. is there a fix for this??

Not sure if its been brought up, but has anyone had issue with the phone not going into mass storage mode? Alot of times I hit the turn on usb button (on the screen with the green android) and it doesn't do anything.

That is not a regular problem for me, but it has happened. Usually reconnecting the cable has fixed it. I would also say to make sure your drivers are utd.

Happens to me sometimes. A reboot of my pc helps.

this happened to me and nothing would work, not a different pc, not rebooting, not even reflashing the ROM. i Odin'd to stock EC05 with CWM3 and converted to EXT4, then flashed, and mass storage works now. i think i may have had a bad flash of EC05 originally - that was the last thing i did before SFR.

i also just went back to EB13 modem. i think this modem is better for my battery. signal strength wasn't very good on EC05
