[ROM] Android Open Kang Project- Jelly Bean Style

Ok so I followed the instructions all is loaded. I hate downloading the apps, thankfull I have NOVA. I was going through some of the apps I use, I tried the GPS, I get no audio, I went into
Text-to Speech Output and tapped listen to an example, nothing. Known issue with AOKP? or like in Jakes JB there was a file to install for this to work?
Also in the pull down toggle what is the "pink icon"?
And when I do a about phone AOKP version shows aokp_toro_jb1, but I downloaded 4 from the link on page 1.

EDIT: OK same issue as with JB missing file - Found answer on RW: Worked for me!

Fix for the Text To Speech issue

Put a copy of libpatts_engine_jni_api.so in your System/Lib folder.

I grabbed that file from the 2.6 ROM. Here is a link to it in my drop box: https://dl.dropbox.c...gine_jni_api.so

Credit to Scripting Samurai fpr posting and Vek_ in IRC for discovering the missing file.

Thanks,
Xanth

Steve Spear of the AOKP team posted on RootzWiki about a new test build. It's not being called "preview 5" yet, but I think it will be. Here is a link to his test site. Obviously, the one with a modification date of today is the one to grab (build 1 in the name). Seems like a good place to check for other updates in the coming days. As Steve said, this is his personal test build site. Nothing official about it. Happy flashing!

I saw it on RW but I didn't see where he discussed it. Do you have a link to that?

Edit: NM, found it.

Also, I flashed this a few minutes ago along with a new boot animation. I'm digging it :).

Did you do the colored multi geared one?

Xanth - the link is busted, mine reposting?

Actually, I have that file, but just for anyone else :).

Some custom made boot animations, BTW:

Black/white ==> [Toro/Maguro] JellyBean Preview Build [Update: Preview 4!] - AOKP - RootzWiki - Page 121

Color ==> [Toro/Maguro] JellyBean Preview Build [Update: Preview 4!] - AOKP - RootzWiki - Page 121

Place the file in either system/media or data/local.

So do you flash these in recovery? Would like to try them.

I don't believe they are flashable unless they state as such. Just do what I described--move them. If you check out the links though, there are other, new ones, and there are flashable versions.

So quick question. Flashed preview 4 today took a real long time to boot saw that crazy uni for what seemed forever. Anyone else with a longggggg book or is there a setting to speed it up.

Did you happen to dirty flash to P4? If so, please read this post from RW explaining the reason for long boots. It has something to do with a new file system check introduced to the boot sequence in JB.

DM, do I have to rename the existing boot animation file? I copied the file and it added copy to the file name.
Thanks!

Make sure it is named:

Yes there is on with a date of Aug 1 2008 and the one I just d/led with July 26, 2012 that also has the word copy in the file name.

Running Preview 4 today, and I can watch the battery drain like it's being sucked through a straw. =/

Anybody know if it's the kernel that comes with AOKP p4? Or can recommend a better one? I didn't see any mention of which kernel it's packaged with.

Francos is working great for me. Just get his app.

Same here. I am running P4 with Franco r224 and getting reasonable battery life.later about 8 hours, with 4 streaming YouTube and 2 streaming podcasts over 4g with Max brightness settings on the screen

I am however looking forward to seeing some updates as I have experienced some (in my opinion)big bugs like random reboots, poor GPS locks and wonky 4g/3g switching and this weird problem with my contact phone numbers being truncated and profile pics not showing. Oh well...only problem with being on the bleeding edge is sometimes you gotta bleed :o

I tried to think of something witty, but this is all I could come up with.

My last 5+ hours. To be fair though, the first 3 hours I was working in the equivalent of an underground bunker without Wifi access, so the radio/power negotiations had to be horrible.
