[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

So how would the 3-9 update do with a fresh install? And which gapps package would an interested party need download?

Good so far. :)

There is a gapps-gb-20120116-237-signed.zip in the first post of this thread. It as stated just above that it is the most up to date. There is a Play Store apk listed above too, but mine update automatically.

I am restoring apps now, with 157 mb free space this time, woo hoo.

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

Fresh install of 3-9, apps told to install to SD, only the bare necessities on internal storage, and I'm STILL running low on space with only 8 MB free. I don't know what's up. Going to do a little poking, see if I can alleviate it; if I can't, it's back to my latest backup.

Well lockscreen still not working for me. But plenty of free app space however.

I have plenty of free space after reloading all apps, now with the correct ROM. What on lock screen does not work? I made a couple changes and all is fine with 3/9a.

When I change the lockscreen style, nothing happens until I reboot. No big deal.

Just wondering if the mic will work when the headphones are plugged in now. Thanks.

Odd, changes are immediate for me. I use ring, change to slider and touch power off then on and it works. Change back and do same test, it works. (shrug)

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

For some reason I have issues with bluetooth and battery life with this ROM and not with any other ZVD roms. Basically with wifi off and bluetooth turned on and not paired or connected to anything the battery will drop about 30% in 8 hours. With BT off it only drops a few percent. (this is with the phone completely idle otherwise) It will not last thru the day without dying. I have tested the same conditions with other roms and the battery will only drop about 1-2% in the same time period with BT on.
I have tested this with another optimus S to rule out it being a problem with the individual handset and have seen the same results.

Can any dev possibly look into this issue? I really like this rom but I can't use it because I need to use bluetooth.

I would be happy to provide logs or anything like that if it would help.

I have noticed the same issue. Thankfully, I'm able to leave BT off most of the time, but you can see the battery usage accelerate anytime it's on. I'm just guessing, but I wonder if it's constantly polling for connections instead of staying asleep until needed.

I'm back to some kind of permissions problem. I can't get any settings or themes to save. Resetting permissions breaks the os completely. Worked fine for about an hour.

install zip from SD card than choose zip from SD card

Re: [ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 2/7/2012 zvd only

no, than you have to scroll down using the volume keys until you reach debugformat. zip (which you should have placed on your SD card)

Thanks for the update! Installed it yesterday and everything works great as always!

Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. I have googled around and couldn't really find anything on this problem. I was digging around in the phone and found what looks like some bluetooth config files in /system/etc/bluetooth/ but I didn't seem to see anything that would help in there and had some trouble finding documentation of the settings. I'm guessing that what you are saying about it constantly searching for connections is probably true; there is probably just some setting somewhere that needs to be changed to turn this off or reduce the frequency of the searching...

edit: ok so I maybe found something:
in rebornROM, gROM, opti-ROM and youMOMrom, and both stock ZVD and ZVH roms the setting in /system/etc/bluetooth/main.conf for DiscoverSchedulerInterval = 1
and in CM7 it is DiscoverSchedulerInterval = 0

Right now I am not running CM7 on my phone but if you are would you mind changing this setting (change it to DiscoverSchedulerInterval = 1) and see how it effects battery life with BT on? (i am guessing you would have to reboot your phone after changing this)

How would I go about changing this setting?

How would I go about changing this setting?

Using a file manager (I use root explorer), follow the system path till you find the conf file. Mount that folder a r/w ( read write). Long press on main.conf and choose open with . .

Open with text editor and change desired value. Save the file on exit and remount at r/o (read only). Reboot system and see if battery life improves with bluetooth on.

So I tried searching the thread, hopefully I haven't repeated someone else's question.

Is usb host mode enabled in this kernel? I'd like to be able to hook up my Garmin (self-powered) device to read / write files from / to the phone.

I understand that the device is probably not beefy enough to power a mouse or keyboard.
