T-Mobile: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Nevermind release date is still the same.

The official release date won't change. Big box stores already had ads printed for that week and there's no way they are changing those at this point. Plus Samsung gets free advertising in these ads with prominent placement most likely.

Off topic of Note 8, on topic of UPS... Earlier this week I received my warranty replacement for my Logitech keyboard. On Fri Aug 25 it was in the state of Order Processed: Ready for UPS. Origin scan was not until Mon Aug 28 and Tue Aug 29 at almost 22 hours late was its departure scan. Logitech never sent me the tracking number until the day I received the keyboard on my doorstep. The important part: the UPS app not once notified me of the new shipment (which, in the past for years, it always has). Of course I had push notifications turned on and of course text notifications just in case. Hoping this is the case here...

I've been checking and refreshing the website, not waiting for notifications. Still I process.

For those of you that have purchased more than one phone...when you log into your tmobile account and check the status...and you click more details underneath shipped what does it say?

On my first line it says 39.00 monthly

on my second line it says 0.00 monthly

and then in my email the order confirmation on my first line everything is normal....on my second line it says something about a promo as long as I meet the requirements.

I called tmobile and they think its the bogo promo however I am on Jump on demand I don't qualify so I am not sure what promo this is but I need to find out so I can do whatever needs to be done to make sure this phone stays free....unless everyone else that has more than one phone says this also.....

I think they are being slammed and burning up the circuits and maybe they are in overload and just maybe they are holding off and not showing any movements to keep the traffic on the website low. If you look at the forums, TMobile appears to have the most pre-orders compared to any other carrier, which is shipping UPS and Verizon and Sprint I think are all FedEx but I am not sure how Samsung, BestBuy or AT&T are shipping theirs, does anyone know?

Nobody is getting UPS updates for Tmobile orders because they aren't picking them up yet. Most likely UPS and TMobile agreed to a cutoff date and time (probably Monday evening) so that Tmobile could process as many orders as possible. Once they are turned over to UPS then origin scan notifications will come in batches and the forum will light up with activity. Not everyone will get it at the same time. Some people will get the origin scan sooner because their phone is on an earlier flight. I usually don't get an origin scan until about 1 or 2am because fights from Louisville to Austin happen between 3-5am and then packages are out for delivery the same day.

It's highly likely that someone could order a Note 8 today and still have it on Tuesday if they choose Next Day air.

That makes a lot more sense than the UPS web site back end or their entire back end system being overloaded.

I am in Dallas so I might wind up getting the same origin scan times as you, thanks for that!

No prob. This is all coordinated in advance. TMobile doesn't just call up UPS and say hey, surprise, we need 100,000 phones delivered tomorrow.

For what's its worth, samsung.com orders started shipping as well. Just got shipping email from Samsung today morning for my unlocked note 8. Surprisingly shipped via UPS instead of FedEx which they generally use. Tracking is still not active but I think Samsung is fine releasing pre-order early. I believe everyone will have phones in hand by Friday next week. Note even Samsung pre-order gift claims start from September 5th so I don't think TMobile will hold the orders this time until closer to release date. I think you will see UPS movement early in the week.

I have pre ordered the last 3 Samsung galaxy phones. My last phone Samsung galaxy s8 was held waiting for pickup like the note 8.Ups at midnight put phone on plane and I got phone on that day.I have next day air for my note 8.I think we will get movement Tuesday midnight like my s8.
I have next day air. I'm on vaca. Until Friday. Wondering if it is worth a risk to redirect to the local ups store in my vaca town. Live in OH. Phone will ship from KY. Vaca is in NC. I called the local UPS store here IN nc they get redirects all the time
Does ups show them as picked up though. I've had a tracking nbr and imei for my Note 8 for 3 days now. Still says ready for ups

Why not just just set your redirect for now and if you wake up Thursday morning and they still haven't actually shipped, just change it back?

Hmm. Always nust worry about making changes before it's been picked up, worrying it delays pickup. Also my.thought is if it doesn't move soon I'd just keep it at the more local ups near my home. We are probably heading back Friday.

Do you guys think there will be pickup physical movement tonight?

I don't think they will get an origin scan until tomorrow, giving TMobile an extra day to keep processing orders.

Looks like Samsung.com orders are getting delivered Tuesday. Tracking went live for one of the members with origin scan and delivery date of Tuesday. Given that Verizon orders are delivering Tuesday, pre order gifts submission starting Tuesday, looks like Samsung has given go ahead for every one to start delivery from Tuesday. Just depends on every carrier, retailer if they deliver in Tuesday or sometime next week I believe.

Ups wants to charge $58 to move it to the vacation UPS store location. No charge for any ups locations near home. Makes sense since the vacation store is 600 miles away. Don't want to pay that.

Yeah, can't blame you there. I wouldn't pay that either.

Has anyone tried to talk to t mobile and see if they are going to ship early since everyone else is.

But it looks like that package is scheduled for delivery 2000 miles from where he is which seems odd.

It also seems odd that a Samsung.com order is using UPS. That would be a change of course for them.

Reps aren't going to say/know anything. If Legere posts something on Twitter or confirms probably one of countless info requests from tech sites that would be great.
