Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

No, it's true I just flew out and grabbed one!

What I like is that they say the release date is 3-21-11, however in the "company overview" it says "Available in early February from your local Verizon Wireless retailer."

100% agree. The OP needs to get a life. Yikes.

I'm sorry... I don't see how two short phone calls and 5 minutes of typing qualifies as not having a life. If you don't like what I have to say, fine. You don't have to be ignorant about it.

Now go back to hiking, swimming, climbing, flying your private jet, running your Fortune 500 company and whatever other things you do that make your life fuller than mine.

Droid 2 officially announced on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
Droid 2 presale begins on Wednesday, August 11, 2010.
Droid 2 goes on sale on Thursday, August 12, 2010.

It is not an exact science. While it would make sense to announce the device a week or two before its release, it is not necessary. By now, everyone knows about the Thunderbolt (just as everyone knew about the Droid 2), so why would they need to announce it at least a week before it's release?

Not saying this is a guarantee, but Verizon has announced a device 2 days before launch before, why couldn't it happen again??

What I think worsens the situation is that these "reliable" sources that pointed to the 24th have suddenly gone quiet. Does that mean they aren't so reliable? Or as knowledgeable as we'd think? If it's not the 24th, there is a new date. What is it? There is no way Verizon is walking around with no target date. How do you march to something if there is no goal?

Perhaps there is no release date currently? Did that ever cross anyone's mind? Sure there might be target dates, but those are just that -- targets, not release dates. We've known the March 17th target date since January.

Do we really think our insiders are just gonna start releasing random dates because we want something?

And it's already well known that the "HTC Thunderbolt 4G with Verizon Wireless" page is not actually an official page.

I think it's pretty clear it isn't,

Just sayn' Cory, I know it's cool as a website owner to drive traffic to your site n' stuff. I'm all for that... but Phil needs to be careful in wording things sometimes. Using "confirmed" is pretty damn cocky. As in, it's most definitely coming out, it's a lock, no doubter. The site lost some credibility, not saying your sources aren't real, but just saying... the only thing that was pretty clear was that you misled a lot of your readers. my 2 cents.

Lol, if you're gonna play stupid at least make it convincing. First of all, I highly doubt it's going to have the whole "Verizon Wireless HTC Thunderbolt" part because the DInc's are using "ADR6300." You also forgot to capitalize T in tapatalk.

That's semantics. A Target date is a release date. A release date is a target date. My point is, there is a date that they are shooting for. And if there is not one, then I don't see how this thing launches in March. Every good business sets internal targets, no matter how flexible they are with them, so there has to be some kind of new date.

Someone at VZW knows when they want to put it out... and if these original sources are placed properly and are as in the "know" as they are sold to be, they should have this date.

It certainly could happen but for their flagship device and something that's going to drive a bunch of sales and is getting the kind of TV/ad play this is... they'll want to make a big deal out of it.

Did they do that for the Droid 2? I don't recall seeing a lot of commercials for it prior to launch.
