Re: Joban's Kernel 2.03 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **WIFI FIXED

I'm not sure where I went wrong but when I tried to boot into CWM it basically did a factory reset on my phone (P506). Any ideas? Thanks, Brent

My likly guess for this is if you got a factory reset out of pressing home+volume up+power that means you don't have CWM installed thats the only reason i see that, doing what you did, made a factory reset happen.

mail

Here is my homescreen. Themed it to look like ICS. It took a bit of doing but it looks sweet! Lockscreen also has the ICS theme!

All I did was try and flash CWM recovery and ended up with a factory reset. I did not perform a manual reset. I would really like to flash cm7 and jobans kernel but it seems I am missing something on the install instructions. Does anyone have a more detailed "install for dummies" version?

My question for you is, Is your phone rooted?

I don't know if there is a "dummy safe" one, but some of the people i helped i told them this youtube video helped, its the one i followed when i first started out: Install ClockWorkMod Recovery on Android devices [Preferably Optimus one, Phoenix] - YouTube

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.03 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **WIFI FIXED

and guys i think 2.3.7 has the com.android.phone errors, but the old cm7 seemed fine
like this rom
[ROM][2.3.5][19 AUG] CyanogenMMatt v1.1 - xda-developers

I think I can verify that it is an issue with 2.3.7 I installed all the ROM listed in this forum so far and CyanogenMMatt v1.1 seems the most stable. I believe the com.android.phone error happens only after the phone tries to sync with google if you use the phone as a straight phone without connecting to the cloud it works fine but as soon as you sync with a google account the ROM goes to crap. I tried the sony ROM that was on here and it seemed to work for a bit but then it too started to wet itself and cry for mommy as soon as I switched the launcher to anything other than that weird thing it had. I have had cyanogenMMatt v1.1 running for about 19hrs now sync, charged, and installed junk and it seems to running like a top. No errors of force closures. I think this may be the ROM of choice unless we find something better or someone comes up with a custom ROM specifically for the phone.

Also a side note on my phone to boot into CWM I have to hold home+down vol+power to boot into recovery I have noticed a number of people saying different methods to getting it to work. Once we get everything working I will do a write up on how to go from stock to ROMed, that is once there is a consensus on what the best ways to do everything are.

So i was noticing that bluetooth in call isnt working... I paired and everything, but my stereo headset which i've used before for calls isnt being picked up now. Any ideas?

@donavan are you thrive or phoenix? My phoenix has to have volume up, so if you are on phoenix perhaps the've changed some sort of hardware detail on it now, cause i have heard other phoenix users say volume down.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.03 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **WIFI FIXED

yeah mine is phoenix I got it about 3 days after it came out as a warranty replacement for a peice of crap samsung smartphone I had. So its possible that it is different hardware being that mine came out on the undoubtedly the first run.

Two side notes is anyone else seeing issues with the battery life on the phone with CM7 running Im getting a few calls and a couple hours of talk time and its telling me the battery is almost dead could this be an issue with programs staying resident or is it that the battery calibration is off?
Also when I get a call or try to unlock the phone the screen doesnt come on the swipe works but the screen is blank anyone else got that problem going on?

go to CWM and wipe the battery cache in advance options! and for the bluetooth to be honest i didnt touch anything on bluetooth but it makes logic that this is a 2.2 based kernel and we are running 2.3.5 or 2.3.7! which its not made for. but ill try soon to make a 2.6.35 kernel which comes with p500 gingerbread and all other new roms.

Thats what I did but I wasnt sure if thats why I was getting crappy results, I assume it will stableize after a while.

and for the bluetooth to be honest i didnt touch anything on bluetooth
This seems to have fixed itself when I went with the 2.3.5 non Sony ROM

but ill try soon to make a 2.6.35 kernel which comes with p500 gingerbread and all other new roms.
With a 2.6.35 kernel will this let us run updates from CM7, assuming they dont update the kernel?

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.03 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **WIFI FIXED

Okay, I told raeyne replacing the ami304d file didn't work, and what he meant by replacing it was in the kernel's zImage initrd. I could decompile it and add it myself, but someone with experience could probably do it better. Joban, do you think this is worth and shot? And if so could you make this kernel (use the file I already attached)

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.03 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **WIFI FIXED

alright ill give it a try, but are u willing to flash it for us? cuz im tired of flashing end less times and not being able to use my phone for almost 2 weeks now for the sake of making a kernel and fixing bugs!

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.03 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **WIFI FIXED

Yeah, I'm willing to flash no problem, and I'm sure others are too.
But also I found this thread where they had essentially the same problems as us (we're doing P500 on Phoenix/Thrive and they did Optimus S on Optimus V) and the first post says how he fixed the gyro problem they got, maybe you could make sense of it

I would be up for flashing as well, i have 2 cells so i use my backup when messing around with my Phoenix.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.03 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **WIFI FIXED

Thanks for the work. Can this be thrown overtop of the old kernel or should wipe the OS and start from scratch?
