[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

EC05 rooted to cwm3.1.0.1,,,,, now i wanna load SRF.

So my phone is EC05 and is now rooted to cwm3.1.0.1 purple, and I'd like to load the Syndicate ROM frozen 1.20. I think i pretty much know how to load the rom.

My question : Is there anything I should do prior to loading this rom. I'm a bit confused about the file system RFS, EXT4 issue. Do I need to be concerned?
My understanding is that since my phone is already at EC05, that its already on ext4 file system and therefore not an issue with the SRF rom. Correct?

I know that I have to boot into cwm to wipe some files 3x but I'm not clear on which caches, etc... need to be wiped before loading the rom.

If you can point me to a video or "how to" that'll get me from where I am now to where I wanna be, with the phone I'd be extremely grateful. O:-)

BTW: I'm very comfortable running Odin, it's similar to some of the other flashing programs i've used in the past. I'm actually more comfortable loading things that way than via the sd card.
Thanks

So far so good. I loaded the new SRF 1.2 and the genocide kernel.

I'm in the process of getting my accounts setup again and syncing.

I'm learning, Thanks...no.... a giant thanks to qbking77 and all his super-eloquent how-to videos. He gets it done quick and to the point. I need to use the pause and rewind buttons to keep up, but all the info is there. He's very thorough in his explanations but you gotta listen or the info will fly right past my newb ears. :p

has anyone figured out how to use wifi while in airplane mode running sfr? it does however seem to work on other roms such as midnight and bonsai. i've searched but haven't found an answer. was going to ask for help over on xda but won't let you post in the developer forums unless you have a certain number of previous posts. thanks in advance.

found a solution to this problem over in xda. xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.1 (Hajime-taisho) | Custom UV | Keyboard Fix | 5/22

an app called 'airplane mode wifi tool'. go figure. :D

Version 1.2 is available.

Little perplexed here. Docs say 1.2 is compatible with CWM 3.0.0.6, but xda says to flash CWM 3.1x. SRF 1.1.1 was easy to flash on top of 1.1.0 without a wipe.

Is a wipe of 1.1.1 required to flash to 1.2?
Is it then sufficient to just flash CWM 3.1 from the CWM 3.0.0.6 menus and then flash SRF 1.2?

I am assuming that if a data wipe isn't required, everything should be preserved from a programs/personal settings perspective...

Watch qbking77 video foor flashing this rom. He spells it all out...what you need to do depending on which platform you're coming from. also check out the xda forums page for this rom. Between those 2 articles you'll get all the info needed to set this one up. First you need to flash cwm 3.0.2.5 ?, cwm 3.1.0.1 is required, but first you need to install cwm 3.0.2.5 then from cwm 3.0.2.5 screen, install cwm 3.1.0.1. I'm pretty new to this but i just did it last nite so it's pretty fresh in my mind. Theres also a new kernel (genocide) that should be installed first.

Again read the xda page and click on the video link on that page and it'll all be spelled out. Any shortcuts and you'll have to start over with Odin.

This rom is awesome...its fast as hell, my download speeds seem to have doubled, i don't know why, but its amazing. Everything moves smoothly, theres no lag, smooth as silk.

This is some top notch coding huge kudos to the ACS team.

I haven't flashed this yet but if SRF has continued its tradition it should do a backup and restore of everything on your device when installing. So that would mean a wipe is not required. If you have issues after installing then you will have to go back and do a wipe and reflash the ROM.

You should be able to flash CWM 3.1x from CWM 3.0.0.6 without issue.

I honestly can't wait until all these different versions of CWM are sorted out because it is getting a bit out of hand now trying to keep up with all these versions and colors..

Yeah, sounds like the same issue I had after installing SFR 1.1.1.....you have to enable "journaling on". I found the zip file to d/l over @ XDA in the SFR 1.2 posting. You're not the only one who has this issue. Good luck.
update: loaded 1.2.0 to both my wife and my phone. Hoping that it would clear up the slow audio issue in flash videos.

However, it did not make a difference.

I tried SKYFIRE browser that sometimes works to use their own flash method and the audio seems OK.

However, I am very frustrated and perplexed with this problem.

Any help on this slow audio issue would be greatly appreciated!

It is my understanding that it is being worked on but it is my personal opinion that they aren't going to rush it too much since we keep seeing new builds all the time.

is this available for gingerbread? or any rom like it?
Not yet, and I wouldn't expect to see much or many leaked custom ROM builds. The devs will wait for official release to really start working up some good ROMs.

Well, I guess if you play around with something experimental, something like this is bound to happen.

I flashed 3.0.0.6 to 3.0.2.5. Rebooted. I then flashed 3.0.2.5 to 3.1.0.1. Instead of rebooting, I went right to flashing SRF 1.2. Then I got stuck on the ACS boot sequence with the vibrating. Couldn't power down, so I pulled the battery. Wiped everything x3. Did a fresh flash of SRF 1.2 off 3.1.0.1 purple. Same problem. ACS boot sequence with the vibrating.

So, what options do I have at this point? Odin to stock EC05 and then reinstall CWM 3.0.0.6 -> SFR 1.1.1?

Well, update: I wiped x3 and flashed 1.1.1 and that booted up. Going to try flashing 1.2 again.

I also started using a single profile: Screen off/ 100min. 200max/ priority 100%

Also, if you go with Clean Kernel v.1.05 you don't have to run Voltage Control or SetCPU, thus savining battery as well. Emerald Envey 2.0 seems to be talking about battery life settling in after a few days or more of cycling it, but not too good at first.. Something in their programming I believe..

Post your results.. I'm currently ruuning Frozen 1.2 testing it out as well.

@Underlined portion:
Amazing tip. I added that to a conservative governor, and the results are great. I've been unplugged since I woke up for work at 8 AM EST, and I have 48% battery left right now... that was with a pretty decent amount of use too.

I wish I could give you guys a screenie, but apparently using the headphone port to play music in my car resets the battery stats so that's pretty much worthless.

@rest
I'll try out clean kernel next time I get a day off to mess with everything.

I'm having a similar problem.. I flashed using CWM 3.0.2.5 and for some reason it just hangs up on the Samsung logo screen and wont go any further. So i Odin'd back to stock ec05 and tried again and got the same problem.. however I'm able to flash every other rom fine. Oh and I've also downloaded the file twice, assuming that the first was defective.

flashed 1.2 a few days ago and so far it's been working much better than the previous versions. not sure how i feel about the look screen though.. it seems like it takes a little extra slide to get it to unlock. i would like the least amount possible as i don't have long fingers.
