Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

March 31st is still the 1st QTR of the year.

I stopped in my BB and asked what they knew of the TB release date. Nothing other then it was delayed indefinitely. I was debating getting the Droid X instead, but since my AT&T contract isn't up till June I can wait and see what happens. My town isn't suppose to get LTE until next September.

To those that feel they missed the date they NEVER announced, you should just be happy they are not sticking to this time frame.

While we did have screenshots from BB we never had an official from VZW and unfortunately that is what it all comes down to.

I really hate doing this, but people are tweeting to droid-life that verizon store employees are receiving emails about the phone being bumped from the 24th to Mon. 28th. Enjoy.

BB also got emails that the TB would be out the 14th. Shows how reliable those "emails" are lol

Oh I see your point. Verizon invested in a network technology that had limited speed ranges. The point that Verizon makes poor technology decisions is noted and agreed with.

ATT and the others can get away with not having an LTE network because they made a smart decision on network technology. Verizon is playing catch up.

Not so much though, more like found they could milk there network for more speed with out changing hardware. HSPA+ was just a something they stumbled over after the fact to extend the life of there existing systems.

here's my convo with the "uncredited" people at my local VZW store. take it FWIW, which probably isn't much, but it is interesting to say the least.

Employee 1: Welcome to Verizon, how can I help you today?

Me: Do you have any information on the release date for the HTC Thunderbolt?

Employee 1: I have heard nothing except that it is "coming soon", would you like to speak to a manager?

Me: Certainly, any information is good information at this point.

Manager: I hear you are interested in the Thunderbolt! I can tell you that I, myself, am very excited to get my hands on it.

Me: Can you tell me what day that will be?

Manager: I can't say.

Me: You don't know, or you can't say?

Manager: I can't say.

Me: I have heard some rumors about the 24th and 28th, have you heard anything on those dates?

Manager: Since you already seem to know, we are hoping to get it on Thursday (the 24th), but expecting it next Monday (the 28th).

Me: Are you currently taking pre-orders.

Manager: Absolutely not, but if you would like to leave your phone number, we will call you the moment it arrives.

There are definitely some strange phrasing in those answers, but at least the manager was somewhat helpful. Sounds like the employees over there are as in the dark, and impatient as we are to get this thing on the shelves!

Can we please let the "it was delayed/it was not delayed" thing go. Many of us disagree and posting the same argument over and over in multiple threads accomplishes nothing. We know where both sides stand.

VZW!!!! im tired of my storm1 already, actually surprised its still works for as many times i have dropped, stepped and thrown in across the room for its SUPER FAST INTERNET AND MULTIPLE FREEZES!!!

I called spoke about 20 verizon stores last week and 10 more today, they all said the 2/24/11 was the day. If does not arrive on the 24th as they elated to me then my faith in them as professional company will be somewhat questionable. Best Buy reps stated whole heart-edly that 2/14/11 which was complete BS. However with BB was so sure of them selves i sold a very good Droid X now I have a crappy Iphone 4 and the last day on the 14 day is 2/28/11 before i am locked. Before i have keep this POS iphone i will cancel the contract on the 28th and transfer to sprint until they decide to quit f** us over on this release date. Sure it is more money throwed away because the delay but who cares if you are not happy. The whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth with both Verizon & Best Buy

I know this must be old saying now, but shouldn't you have waited until Verizon made an official announcement?

All the blogs are the guy in the car who keeps saying, "Get in" and then drives the car 3 feet as you try to open the door. The make of the car is HTC and the model is the Thunderbolt.

Prob the same thing I would say. Obviously it's coming out "within a month". They just don't want to spit out a date like this Thrs and have hords of people at the front door.

All these 'went to VZ store and BBY store, and they told me' comments are all complete lie's.

seriously dude? why would anybody lie? they want the phone as bad as we do? everybodys just trying to help! dont believe me if you want to but the 24th has been confirmed to me in multiple ways in my city tucson, AZ. best buy says 24th, verizon says 24th,bb mobile chat says 24th soo im assuming its 24th for me

Doubtful. Verizon wouldn't send an email to their stores that non-managers can access with info like that. And managers sure as hell wouldn't share that information if they had it.
