Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

Yea the summer iphone will be the same, it will just sport a 4in screen. And iphones hold their value for years. I mean the iphone 3gs still is being sold for a few hundred on ebay. They make good quality phones so their worth more than plastic phones.

There won't be an LTE iPhone until 2012. I could sell mine for over $500 if I wanted.
OK, but that would still be more expensive than paying the restocking fee now. Unless, you find a good price on a lightly used Thunderbolt.

Given all of the speculation with today's Best Buy circular and the correction notices, I wonder if @PhilNickinson has heard anything new/different.

I really, really, REALLY want my new phone this week (like everybody else!).

No idea how reliable this site is, but the article is dated Monday, February 21st ...

From HTC Thunderbolt Delay Not Verizon iPhone Fault, Pushed To March? : But it doesn't unfortunately end there. The source goes on to point out that because Verizon is pushing the HTC Thunderbolt as the first LTE 4G capable smartphone ever, and LTE is the biggest thing in Big Red's books for 2011, we can expect the HTC Thunderbolt 4G to only launch around the ?first or second week of March.?.

Ok I get the Skype thing but if the date was push back to the 24th why whould VZW just go "OMG guys that phone its got the 4Gs we really need to push it back to the 1st of march". Yeah its there first 4G phone and they whant to make sure LTE is ready for mass consumption... So why state its comming in Feb only to pull the plug and change it to march cuz your not quite sure it was ready for LTE in the first place?

Breaking News!! I heard from a friend of a guy who is 4th cousins with a guy who works at a verizon kiosk that the phone has once again been delayed because of an issue where the facebook app updates too fast on 4G so it is now going to be released on September 21st 2014....and we will only be getting a 256MB SD card.

not sure if anyone saw blackmanx's tweets this weekend but he states its software related so its anyones guess. not software as in skype but something with the phone resetting in LTE areas when using voice or something along those lines. like he said this was supposed to be out mid-march and they are trying to push it out sooner but they won't release a sub-quality phone so as much as i want this out i want the phone to work right.

The way I read it, I'm pretty sure it's the LTE network problem. Not the phone's. His tweet also stated that the NETWORK won't handle the stress, that's why the phone would reset in the LTE area's. However, if it's network related (LTE), they should deactivate that feature on the phone, not delaying the phone. From my understanding, the 3G and 1X still work fine. For a lot of us, thats all we really need until Verizon gets the LTE up and running like its ment to. Verizon has the power to deactivate the 4G on the phone itself until the network is up to par. Wish they would hurry up and announce it already!!

just my .02

As much as I wish they would do this, as others have stated, Verizon wouldn't want to deactivate 4G on their first 4G phone.

No, release the phone working OUT OF THE BOX, the way it's supposed to work. Sorry but I'm not paying my at&t early term fee and another 300 for a half-azzed phone loaded with false promises. If you think differently than you must really be desperate. If the network is really the problem, then just wait cuz you don't want things like phone's restarting n' crap... it will be a blogger & media **** storm.

With the recent rumors, I'm now betting on a March release. Before the Ides of march is my guess.

The 4G network is in only selected area's at the moment. The vast majority of us "users" are in 3G only, some even 1x....To me, it would make sense to slowly ramp up "users" in the new LTE network. There's gonna be problems no matter what when they hit the switch and let a hundred thousand users get 4G at once. Nothing's perfect, Murphey's law is a prime example.

Regardless of the Release Rumors...

I still think the Thunderbolt will be released on the 24th. Anyone else think the same or differently? Feel free to express in the thread. I know I plan to go to my local Best Buy right when they open to try to get mine. East coasters better let us know if they get theirs on the 24th or not too.

I'm really hoping we see it Thursday, my 14 days return period with the fascinate is up Friday, so I was kind of hoping this would be perfect. But the more and more we ponder and search for a scrap of hope, the more it seems like the trail of shipping and stocking this week just isn't there. We would have found something really solid in the past week if it was going to happen. Verizon really would be trying harder if they were confident in trying to sell this phone soon

I still want to believe it's the 24th. And I plan to go to my local Best Buy to get mine right when they open regardless of rumors.

May want to rethink that one... Just called and the staff at BB assured me it would not be there this week and that the reprint at the stores is not referring to the fact that it didnt state the 24th but that it wont be instores at all.

ATT & T Mobile would have a field day with VZW's 1st 4G phone that only works on 3G. That would be a PR nightmare. It would take millions of dollars to over come that.

A Few thousand power users upset about a "delay" is alot easier to deal with than the millions that would see these commercial faulting the network.
