Verizon Note 7 Recall Thread

It could be months before the Note 7 is replaced or etc, because the Feds are now involved.
(It took 6 months for the CPSC to recall exploding hoverboards, to give you some context.)
Totally different scenario. The hoverboards were made by cheap Chinese OEM companies then rebranded by multiple middle man companies before making it to consumer hands. Samsung already has a process started and this will hopefully be more of an official rubber stamp.

I asked before & got no answer. Has anyone heard that it has only been gsm devices that have exploded or caught fire? Supposedly this is due to the antenna location. I have heard nothing about this but am wondering if anyone has?

Yes they will, using the number that was used to purchase the device.

I have a business account with Verizon and I spoke with a Customer Rep and specifically inquired about being emailed or texted when the Note 7 stock is available for exchanges and she denied any knowledge of emailing or texting customers by Verizon.

It's gonna take a few more days, with a weekend and a holiday thrown in, for Verizon to set up a firm Top-to-Bottom policy and the rules trickle down to the stores.

I was at a Verizon Store at 9:45 a.m. this morning and the clerk told me the recall did NOT include U.S. phones. I told him he was wrong and he asked me where I got the phone. When I told him I pre-ordered it at the Verizon website, he was OBVIOUSLY relieved and considered himself off-the-hook.:p

So I figure it wont be sorted out with Verizon till Wednesday-Thursdayish.

Peace. Alan

I called Verizon to get an update. Still no idea when new N7 will be available. Verizon has already charged us for our old phones that we had to send back to get the N7. I gave them the tracking number to prove they were shipped. Verizon is dropping the ball no loaner phones like the other carriers.

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency is getting involved now. Worst case scenario Samsung may not be able to sell the revised Note 7 in the US. or could lead to a delay in replacement stock.

What's the number for the Verizon regional management. I would feel better getting a loaner phone until the revised Note 7 is available.

So I called Verizon and surprise they had no new information from Samsung since the 6th tech told me that once you exchange your device that's it. I called Samsung and they and they took all my information and told me that they would get back to me within 24 hours but that I should power down my device. No one offered my son a "loaner" until the Note 7 was in stock. He will be exchanging his tomirrow u guess for the edge since he doesn't have an older phone to go back to. I guess I will go back to my older device for now.

this is most likely bad for us folks who just want to exchange our note 7's for new note 7's. the time line will be all thrown off now.

I have a quick question if somebody can help. I still have my Note 4. Unfortunately I factory reset it and removed and threw away the sim card that was in the Note 4. Can I remove the sim card from my Note 7 and put it into the Note 4? Would it automatically have my contacts etc? or do I need to move them over or download from the cloud? tia

I think you will have to download them. I think the sim card only contains the information that allows you to connect with your provider.

If you synced the Contacts with google account you used to boot up phone your golden. Still can do it now, for when you do swap phones

I went to the Verizon store at Freehold Mall today and they were familiar with the exchange program. I brought my Note 7 together with the cables, box, etc. and they gave me choice of what phone to swap with. I selected an S7 Edge (Silver). Bought a case with it, they credited me back for the Note 7 and didn't charge a restocking fee. When I asked if they will be calling people that have swapped their Note 7s, he told me no and to just check from time to time to see if they have the Note 7 in stoc in a week or so. If I swap back to another Note 7, there will be no restocking fee either. It's a hassle but at least they had swapped me pretty quickly.

I was told once you exchange that's it.

No. When you swap it, they will give you an opportunity to swap back to the Note 7 when it become available again without paying restocking fees. What they won't allow is you swapping out to the 'loaner' and then coming back to exchange for a phone other than the Note 7 and not paying restocking fees.

Just talked to Verizon and now they told me my choices are return for refund or exchange for different phone.

They went on to tell me that they don't know if Verizon will offer the note 7 in the future, it might be dead in the water.
