Where's Froyo for the Fascinate?

I see people posting over and over that 2.2 isn't that big of a deal, people aren't going to be impressed, etc. I don't care if the OS looks different or my home screens scroll differently or whatever, there are core components that are relied upon by more and more apps, and I feel like I'm getting left in the dust here. Look at the Google apps. Almost all of them have a few features that are only available on Froyo. That's just one company that makes apps; I see more and more in the market that say 2.2+. Then there's the flash thing on top of that.

I know that some people are sick of all the complaining about the wait, but to deny that it's a big deal doesn't help the situation.

Just wait until Honeycomb comes around, I guarantee we'll see even more of that OS dependent stuff in the market =\

Just rumors, it's been tossed around by a lot of people but there never has been anything truly solid to back it. I anticipate we will see Honeycomb on Tablets first, but I'd be willing to bet that a phone optimized version will be out.

this is exactly why I want Froyo... apps are already starting to come out saying 2.2+ only... I don't like it when I see that I can't get full use out of an app or get an app at all because I don't have the latest OS.

I'm still skeptical. Most of those reps don't anymore than we do and are just reading off of a script. I hope its true, but I won't get my hopes up.

Also he states its in the final stage of preparation. If thats Samsung's final stage we still won't be seeing it anytime soon because Verizon will hold onto it for awhile like they like to do to test it.

That's true to a point. But I know a lot of us in the developer community are moving forward with some of the features in 2.2+. I write a lot of corporate apps for things like invoicing and work order processing. I see significant performance enhancement when I compile for 2.2 instead of 2.1. Makes my users happy when the see a snappy app (hey, that thymes).

Just called Samsung support.when asked about the date of froyo being released, I was told that they have no date as of today of the release. I told them that I am very dissatsified with Samsung not seeming to care about their customers and will never by a Samsung product due to this. Selling my Fascinate and buying the new Iphone as their always keep their products updated.!

By the way, I'd wait on your iPhone until this Summer when they release a new one. But if you get an iPhone now, at least you'll be sure of getting that same iOS as the new phone has whenever it's released.

Yes, this is more on par with what any company would ever tell you.

"We are very sorry for your frustration. We are working hard to get it out. We will let you know when it is ready."

Be as vague as possible. It could be being released tomorrow and they would give you the same line.
