Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

This thread named " Joban's Kernel 2.08" so my problems are legit.
I've complete full circle :(
Installed cwm recovery, flashed Joban's Kernel 2.08 on my "indian" version. Color and locked screen issue were gone. Then flashed CosmIcEXperia v3.5 and found myself back on square 1. It starts to boot, I do see spinning numbers but then it freezes. Now what?

ok dude your doing something wrong and make sure ur not doing some noob mistake! go to the recovery and use the far left button on ur fone to select things and first wipe/factory reset and then flash rom and reboot and then flash my kernel! simple as that!

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

As of now I'm not only know what I'm doing, I also now how to do and why it needs to be done! That being said, I also believe that indian kdz file which I'm using to start the process (other roms are somehow disabling wireless network) including the one u've recommended, is incompatible with your kernel(may be not) because camera, fm radio, gps do not work. Accelerometer does, wifi does as well. Do you know what esle kdz file does that other roms don't?
I was using that indian rom BUILD GRI40, VER LG=P500V20B all day and didn't even talk. it used 20% of the battery. It may mean that battery needs calibration or...

Good luck! :) Thanks for all that you've done already!

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

I don't understand why are you trying to use the KDZ files for the phone when you can flash a ROM. If the phone is showing the Experia startup animation then you can flash to any ROM you want just make sure you got a good flash in the first place, some times it takes installing it more than once and clearing everything from the phone. I found for the best result purge everything in CWM including the battery stats (make sure your phone is 100% charged first though). After that just pick the ROM you like and install it and then slap Joban's Kernel over top of it.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Here is what I know so far.

I was using ROM Manager to flash roms. It did work well. At some point I updated it from the Android market to 5.0.2.0. and UPDATE ROCOVERY with it. That was the bomb!!! After that I wasn't able to flash back any rom including those which did work fine on my p505. I don't know why did it happen but have a pretty good guess. I panicked. That was another bomb. Instead of analysis of events and consequences I did kdz method of recovery without having the correct file.
There are some differences in areas modified by CWM recovery( the only one I tryed so far. Give me please correct img for my phone, the instructions brief and I promise to try other tool) and kdz method.
Once again it all gained not by education but by trail and error method with postfactum analysis.
I don't have necessary kdz file for my phone and only one v20B indian kdz somewhat works on my phone.
It has two severe issues: no 3G data and video driver is wrong. GPS, WiFi, FM Radio, camera do work.
Video driver could be corrected via joban kernel but afterwords GPS, WiFi, FM Radio, camera do NOT work anymore.
So my question and request to all of you who knows and/or willing to help please share with me you knowledge, experience, files and methods to recover.

Nobody knows everything but always somebody knows more than you. Help to those who are willing to be helped. And I'm.

Thank you very much for support and patience.

Check your private mail for the direct links. And to everyone else to solve this issue you will need to read up on how to fix the fast boot error. The problem is different but the solution is the same and the files are all the same though you will have to read through all the pages of the thread as some files were initially left out of jobans post first post but have been added later.

How can I remove cwm and return to stock? I have searched for hours and found nothing. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

you can flash this firmware via LGMDP THUNDER v1.5 (Operator).exe

thanks! i didnt know that! now u can use that instead of kdz flasher than! great!

ROM manager can NOT for unknown me reason install cwm recovery. I do not know why but love to!
After KDZing I'm rooting the phone via ADB(GingerBreak doesn't work anymore either). I can install ROM Manager. I can start it, launch recovery, see bar on the top but after reboot NO recovery what so ever! Am I doing something wrong? What can I do wrong?
So again via ADB I'm flashing CWM 3.0....The only image for p505 I have.
Now the fun part or not(at least for me) Experia starts but it DOES NOT see wireless operator, so do some other roms!!! The only one does is VD20B (the Indian).

Thanks to all who are trying to help. I'm really appreciate it. I'm trying to understand what is going on but CAN NOT!!! Well, I did learn a lot of new stuff.
FYI: I'm embedded software engineer with 30+ years of experience, so I do know what a lot about this stuff, not linux though which mostly android is.

Please meet me on skype(brbirb). I can do everything you'll ask(phonewise:)). I'll be there from about 19:30 ET and will stay as long as it needs. You'LL be able to see everything with your own eyes(or my PC camera :))
I want phone, I need phone and even more I want to know WTF with my phone.

PS It is nice ti be young again with you guys! Just be more patient! OK?

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

The saga is over!!!
Thanks to myinbox my phone is back as it originally was! Oh!
Now I can start to break it again :)

Thank you all guys. The process of refloration P505 is established!

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Looking forward how to brick this dumb thing again :)
Actually, learning how to put recovery software. Rom manager fails. And I'm researching other options.

BTW I'm hiring Interns and temp(30 to 150 days trail) to permanent position embedded engineers. American citizenship is required: we're making SUGV robots for military. There is possibility of a project to control this thing via mildroid(military droid). So, your resumes are welcome.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

I've installed void #forever(p500) + Joban's Kernel 2.08.
The problems are:
- camera: it works but doesn't allow to actually shoot. My guess is in the settings you can select buttons the way you like but it is totally irrelevant they do their usual not camera settings assigned stuff.
- GPS
Like void for its compactness
My guess it is something kernel related. Well will switch to another rom.
Will probably add my findings here.
Did flash Experia. Didn't find issues yet, but want to warn others who is not well equipped with knowledge nor experience:
As soon as ROM is flashed Google apps http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps need to be installed right after!
Also this rom doesn't have keyboard. A Googled android keybord apk, found one and installed it via ADB adb install path\file.
Hopefully it will be easier to the next "researchers".
Good luck Door Knobs :)

Thanks for the kernel Joban. What's a good speed to overclock my phone at?

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

It would be also very nice to know what governor settings should be. I do know that ondemand doesn't work well. Conservative?

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

overclocking and Governor are what you want them to be. what ever setting works with what you need your phone to do. you just need to play with the settings to see what fits you best.
on overclocking i would recommend you bump it up slowly as some have had crashes going to high to quick. id give each step a couple hours.
as for governor, i went with performance, though i havent really played much with them all.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Can't agree more. Here is what I already found out: I DID NOT change F_CPU but changed governors from performance to ondemand. The screen stared to jerk...Switched now to conservative. Still watching. Switched back to performance. Screen is jerky.
