So, can anyone explain to me in layman's terms why the 2g/3g switch is broken in CM7? DO they even know why?

I get crap for reception on 3g and I rather like the reduced battery usage in 2g mode.

1. factory erase
2. flash ROM (i used cyanogen matt)
3. reboot
4. flash ICS
5. reboot
6. flash kernel

My phone finally came in the mail today. I have been reading all this development stuff while waiting to try to get cm7 on my phone. I watch many tutorials on youtube using clockwork and I think I have the process.1. download the rom i want and kernel on root of sd card.2 Then go into flash wipe data and than load rom.3. Than after reboot go back into clockwork and re flash kernel like I did the rom? and another question, which rom should I use out of the three recommended? If I can actually figure this out I will donate, im grateful so many people are interested in development for lg thrive/phoenix

There's no problems with it automatically switching from 3g to 2g. But the FORCING of 2g network usage is a known bug in CM7. It is one of the major reasons many people crash their phones because of the 2g/3g power widget.

If you can force it on yours, that would be incredibly interesting, since as far as I know no one else can.

Ok, so how long would it take for the phone to crash? Cause i can force it on the gingercrust 1.2 rom, and it hasn't crashed my phone, and i'm doing it from the power widget that's on my homescreen page. (ps i could do this with the other roms as well) Also can make phone calls no crash.

Oh, HELP ME XP im getting spammed by the com.android.phone crash now all i did was change the font and now im getting spammed by it, any suggestions?

UPDATE: I am restoring right now, hopefully it gets fixed

do with wipe or switch to sonygenmod or cyanogenmmatt if u dont want to see it again, i think the issue is with 2.3.7 cuz 2.3.5 runs fine.

So this is what my current theme looks like at the moment. Trying to get ringlock though. This is based on ICS.
Oh and the wallpaper is a live one, its on the market for $0.99. its really cool and adds the ics feel to it.
