Sprint Note 7 Recall Thread

Couple of options on location. First, you can call Sprint CS and ask for a store that will accept telesales and web returns. Second, you can go to sprint.com, search for locations near you, and find a location that accepts telesales and web returns. The functions of the store are bold on the right side of the store info. As for the phones, according to 2 corporate stores near me, you can get the S7/S7E. But it's not a "loaner", per se. They'll process the return of the Note 7 (even if you want to exchange for a new one when avail.), they will then issue you a S7/S7E. It will be your phone, and as long as you do not damage it, you can return it as well when the new note 7 arrives, and they will issue you a new Note 7. Realize, the S7/S7E is your phone...ypu break it, you bought it.
Thanks. Does that mean I get a refund for the Note 7 ? I got $35 (monthly installment for N7) as bill credit, but not the taxes ? Also they charged me upgrade fee while giving S7 edge.

14 day grace period after that it's Permanent, that still applys here

If you are saying that after 14 days we are stuck with the 7 edge and can't trade into a note when they become available you are incorrect.

Not according to the two corporate stores I went to. You can still return the S7/S7E after the 14 days IF you got the S7/S7E as your interim replacement for the Note 7. You would still be in line for the Note 7. The unfortunate thing is you would have to pay a restocking fee for the S7/S7E. However, I'm sure something could be done about that.

unfortunately i'm on sprint but I bought my phone at best buy so they won't extend the courtesy since I bought it at best buy

Well, I bought mine on the Sprint website so I'm going to go in tomorrow and see if I can get an S7 edge to hold me over. I was going to wait it out but now that the government has gotten involved it might be awhile.

I am cautiously optimistic that we will have replacements in our hands this week. There have been several reports that retail outlets have the new inventory already in their possession and that all they are waiting on is a green light to initiate swaps. In addition, I have gone back and read the CPSC warnings, and dug into their "fast track" recall program. The fast-track recall, and the highly cited "20 days" is simply the period in which the manufacturer has to be ready to initiate their approved plan. Samsung is clearly ready to initiate exchanges almost immediately, which makes the 20 days completely irrelevant. Now, that is not to say that the CPSC will not delay the process, who knows but the delay will not be due to 20 day fast track process.

All the CPSC has said is that they need to determine if a replacement device issued by Samsung is an "acceptable remedy". I am not expert, but this does not seem like it should take long to determine; common sense says of course it is an acceptable remedy. There very likely will be a lot that needs to ironed out regarding the recall process, but that doesn't mean that swaps can't start happening immediately.

$.02, nothing more than my optimistic speculation.

That was my line of thought as well. However, since I would have been responsible for any damage caused to the "loaner" phone, I decided to simply return the N7 for a refund and have them reinstate my upgrade eligibility. I'm back on my G3 and will just wait this mess out and let the dust settle! Who knows how long this will realistically take.

Here is part of an email that I received from BB:
To make it easy, we have eliminated the restocking fees and extended the return window until September 30, 2016 for any customer who purchased a Galaxy Note7.

I spoke with a sprint rep yesterday about a different matter. She saw that I currently have a Note 7 and asked when was I going to take it in. I told her that I got it from best buy and they didn't have any in yet.

Now this is the strange part. She told me I can go into any sprint store and exchange it, regardless if I got from best buy. I asked her if she was sure about this and she said yes. She also told me if I exchange for another Samsung phone...s7 or s7 edge, I'd gets $25 bill credit. However if I exchange for any other phone...like a iPhone etc...then I will not get the $25 credit. She seemed very positive about this as well.

I did not take any action because I think I am going to just return mine when my iPhone 7 Plus comes in.

Any one doing a sprint exchange for a different phone ,you need to be inside the 14 day purchase period or you loose that option

You are repeatedly saying this and it is not accurate. You can return your note 7 for a full refund at any time.

If you are saying that doing an exchange with Sprint, getting a S7/S7E, means you only have a 14 day window to return for your Note 7, that goes against what 2 corporate stores, and Sprint CS told me. IF you enroll in the EXCHANGE program, and decide to get a S7/S7E in the interim, you can return it as soon as Note 7 is available REGARDLESS of the 14 day window. However, you will have to pay restocking fee for S7/S7E. I firmly believe you could also get the restocking fee reversed. You need to make sure the person processing your exchange knows what they are doing. I have activated an older device, shut off the Note 7, and am waiting to see what transpires this week with the CPSC. With any luck, I'll be able to bring in my old device, and get the new Note 7. I doubt I'll be willing to hang on to the old Note 7 longer than this week.

Spoke to sprint corporate.
A exchange to a s7 or s7e no problem , note 7 replacement under recall no problem.
Return back to 7 no problem
Note 7 return after 14 days not excepted.

And I was told 30 days. This is a recall. They have to take them back.

Sorry, I did not mean to come off like a jerk. We are all hearing different things, especially at the carrier level.

I can absolutely guarantee that any mention of 14 days is rubbish.

Yes and the story changes with the stores as this all unfolds, this week should be more uniform in whats actually going on , hopfully well see a release.

Spoke to a corporate store in West Miami/ Doral and they stated their was a notice sent out today from corporate stating that there was going to be a delay with availability of new devices. They expect to know more later this week.

Went to corporate store and she said my options was return phone and get any phone I want(no loaner) or use old phone until new stock comes in. Just went to see what was up.

Let me just add to that...apparently, the stores also don't have any real way of knowing who wants to just exchange their device. Basically, if the new devices come in, and you want to return your S7/S7E that you got to use in the interim, it could turn in to a bit of a hassle. They want people to bring in their Note 7, even if they've shut it off, and activated another device. Unfortunately, they will just process that as a return, and, again, they have no system to place you in line to get a new phone once they are in. IF you've received communication from Sprint asking you to bring in your phone, they MIGHT have some record. I have received zero communication fro Sprint. At this point I have reset, and powered off the Note 7. I've activated an old device, and I think I'll hang onto the Note 7 for a bit longer. Sprint seems to just want to blame Samsung. But at this point, they really should have a system ready to go. Even if it's as simple as a store level database of customers wishing to exchange devices. C'mon Sprint, get it together.
