Sorry if I came across wrong. I saw bunch of questions that were all circling the same idea. Basically what we are all trying to find here is a good ROM that works faster than the stock froyo and doesn't curse us with all of the Bloatware that the carrier stuffs in. I know more than some people in here and less than others. I think this a learning process for all of us. Right now here are our options and I leave it to the channel to decide which we think is best.

1 wait and see if joban comes back after he bricked his phone (I asked him for his source code if he doesn't keep with us)

2 we can trying built a custom ROM based off of the stock ROM LG gave us and find some way to distributing it.

3 we can try to build another Kernel like joban's original based on the .35 source code (im getting closer to understanding how to alter it) that will let us use CM7 ROMs [this is probably our best bet if joban is out of the running because it will open more doors]

Well logic says that unless joban gulled the people at the store into replacing his phoenix, he got a Galaxy Nexus or something. So we can hope he comes back, but I'm guessing no.

If we get a hold of his source code, the kernel road might be our best option.

If not, then we might as well create a stripped ROM and live in our own little paradise.

Or we could go back and harass LG for ICS

hey I have no problem bugging them for ICS. I will be working towards the kernel as I can I think I know how to go about it but I have to wait till I get home and can install ubuntu on my laptop (they frown on me reformatting the work PC's)

Yeah I suggested that a while back but for now we will run with this thread. At the point I start to actually do something more the reading and talking about it I will start a thread. Hopefully Joban will be back before that and he can start it though. If someone else beats me to the Kernel building punch that by all means please start a new thread.

So when I flashed CosmicExperia I got no service!!! I have never been so happy about an error in my entire life! If CosmicExperia an old baseband .32 ROM, and it doesn't work on a phone updated to 2.3.4, it leads me to believe that 2.3.4 is .35 baseband! When I restored to stock, service came back! Thoughts?

try flashing Prefect Presto1.7 it is a new Baseband ... you will have screwy colors but you should be able to still use the phone to dial. If not I missed a file somewhere when I made the post.

Ok i dont think theres a way to fix it! I cleared my IMEI number so i dont know where to go from there now! And for those on the official gingerbread do u notice the lockscreen lag? Its even worse than my .35 kernel on cm7! On ICS theres like no lag!

Joban! You're back! Try reflashing stock instead of restoring from a backup. Worst case scenario, take it to the store and say it just stopped working, remove all your root stuff though and make sure you are on stock, say you used the official update tool, it worked for me. Also donovan, I will flash PerfectPeso.

EDIT: OH JOY! AFTER FLASHING PERFECTPESO I CALLED MY HOUSE AND IT RANG!!! Colors were still messed up, but service isn't a problem. So we have pretty much confirmed that the stock update is new baseband.

While you were gone we pretty much made sure that the stock update indeed puts you on nbb, the only way we could be 100% is if someone with stock froyo posted their baseband version. There is no way to test data as I don't have it in my plan. And I can send texts and make calls. So so far on your kernel, color works but mobile data (including texts and calls) and wifi do not?

Welcome back And there Is slight lag, I have to sometimes press it twice for the screen to come on. I'm using widget locker because the stock lockscreen kept calling emergency when I got a message.

well i got desperate and used who ever posted there nand. booted without sim and had wifi no prob. put sim in and wifi worksish. it scans and tries to connect but imediatly disconects. had to fined AT&T APN setting on net, and after entering them i got data.

so if anyone out there has a nand of AT&T id like to try it. i think you(joban) should try it to. the one i have is wierd. i think its a rogers.



EDIT: nevermind about wifi, i turned it off then back on and it connects. so as far as i can tell joban the phone is working completely.

It took approx. 5 days to do it, but well worth it!
It would take less than an hour now that i know how to do it...
But i finally got it running on a 2.3.7 Rom

Everything works-

Hate to interrupt you in your search for an answer, but I'm curious, as a thrive user myself, how was your experience in getting cm7 mod installed. Was it pretty tricky or hard? I want to try so badly, but with already mucking up once (earning me a replacement....), I'm very hesitant to do it again.
