Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

i got the cm7 mod working on my LG THRIVE, but when i try to flash jobans kernal to fix the problem, it doesnt work... It goes to the lg thrive logo and wont continue to the cm7 mod screen :(
Please help me, i need help on how to get Jobans Kernal to fix the color problem...
Thanks

Hate to interrupt you in your search for an answer, but I'm curious, as a thrive user myself, how was your experience in getting cm7 mod installed. Was it pretty tricky or hard? I want to try so badly, but with already mucking up once (earning me a replacement....), I'm very hesitant to do it again.

donovan, I've done some work with Linux kernels before; I am fully prepared to assist in any way possible

What you're saying is that you can flash a .35 ROM but you have no service and the blue graphics like before?

And joban couldn't get the baseband working.

Guess I've got a date with google

Exactly ... I installed Perfect Pesto v1.7, which installed no problem, boot no problem but I had no service signal and the colors where the weird blue green crap we had from before. So my guess is there is some sort of baseband issue which I think Perfect pesto may have a way around but we still need the graphics to come back to normal. I have done some kernel compiling many years back when I first started learing linux but it has been so long ago I dont remember much. I did find out I will be installing linux on my laptop and praying its got enough horsepower and ram to do a build. Apparently building a ROM requires a monster machine but the Kernel shouldnt be quite as bad. But it does take time which might be why we only hear from joban every few days...either that or unlike us he has a life.

OathKeeper1212 I did some research and the reason we can't just use the kernel from stock on CM7 is they are different. There are issues between the kernel Cyanogen uses and the kernel that LG gave to us. I have to compare the difference between the two, shuffle some code and pray that it works. I may try to find one of the super tweaked kernels for the P500 and work from there rather than reinventing the wheel. So anyone out there interested in helping with that part find us the best P500 Kernel w/ source code.

The baseband may be something we will all need to update to directly from LG to be on the safe side. Once updated we can load roms and kernels. If im not mistaken the baseband upgrade is a one time thing so of we upgrade to 2.3.4 from LG it may have the new baseband.

Can someone out there with a stock 2.2(froyo) and a stock 2.3.4(gingerbread) go to settings>about and find out what base band you are all using?

Please give me the following so I figure this out.

Android Version 2.3.7
ROM CosmicEXperia v3.5
Kernel Joban#8 2.6.32
Baseband V07u-000-000-MAR-23-2009
Build# GRJ90

Perfect peso is supposed to have a patch for old baseband or something. Do you know anything about that? BasebandFix.zip

the baseband fix is to allow the old baseband to work on the new ROM I think (at least it was in an older version)

BTW check my previous post I massively updated it.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Android Version 2.3.4
Kernel 2.6.35.7-perf
lg-electronics@sl-rd10-BLD196#1
Build number GRJ22

not sure where to find the baseband version

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

should just be listed on that same page somewhere (hopefully)

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

can someone help me please, i need a link asap for the CM7 A-SERIES !!!!!!!!!!!!! .32 KERNEL!!!!!!!!!!!, OLD BASEBAND, Baseband v10E !!ROM!! for android LG THRIVE... BTW i flashed the .35 instead, but Joban's kernal would'nt fix it,,,i need .32. So if sombody could plz help me get a link to download this, I would be in debt to you.:-!

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

temwt2, it should be on the about phone page, just around the kernel version.

And just to clarify you did flash the KDZ with the update tool.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

No where on my about phone page under settings does my phone list the baseband version. However, I had been struggling to boot into recovery mode. I was able to do it by flashing cwm again but by choosing the optimus one (old BB) option instead of the optimus one option. That leads me to suspect that the stock gingerbread update installs with the old BB. Of course if anyone know a way that I can verify that, please share.

Its ok, its not hard at all if you know what you're doing, but i flashed the wrong rom for it... .35 instead of the older version .32- Which is what you need***! I could help ya if u need any help for sure... I didn't create a backup before i did it though so now im stuck with the blue and green colored .35 ROM that Joban's kernal isn't made for, its made for .32. But i can't find a link to get .32 or else i think i would be at a success right now. :( unfortunately the guy blocked the link. But the .35 works as long as you don't let the screen go black, hit the power button, or flash Joban's Kernal... So pretty much don't flash the cyanogen mod 7, unkless u have access to the .32 kernal version ROM link. Hope that helped.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Guys, i flashed the .35 gingerbread rom on my girlfriends phone from kdz the day it came out. I always wondered too just like you guys why we couldn't just extract the stock kernel and flash it on top of the p500 roms(as long as they are stock modified, not cm7 roms)why it shouldn't work. My opinion is it that it should work fine. My girlfriend has been running gingerbread fine for like a week and a half. I threw link2sd on it as well as adw launcherex and also themed it out for her. She's happy with the way it is and so am i, so i guess i have no need for the .35 cm7 kernel. But thanks joban for all the work! Will wait and see for further progress.

Edit - i'm definately on new baseband version and have full service. AFAIK v10=old v20=new.
My baseband is v20a so for sure its new baseband

Edit2 - DIAL this code to pull up the hidden phoenix menu to see baseband version and other system stuff. 3845#*505#
GINGERBREAD BASEBAND VERSION = AMSS6038

could someone still on froyo post their baseband version PLEASE

Ok let me see if I can clear up number of points here.

1 to fix the fact that you have a .35 ROM on your phone just pick a new ROM ComsicExperia is my personal choice, I posted a link to it a few pages back.

2 The reason we are looking for a .35 kernel is so that we can run the newer ROMs and ICS (though ICS is looking more like a pipedream than a reality).

3 The reason we need a custom kernel is that most of the ROMs we are using are actually designed for a different phone. The custom kernel gave us the ability to run that and also overclock our phones(which I dont do). However if we all want to work on a custom ROM based on the stock for our phone and customize it for max performance and tweak it out there is no reason for a custom anything other than what we want to change.

I suspect that the baseband may not have changed which is a deathnail for the ICS dream but on the upside a lot of the ROM's out there that are still being developed are running the both basebands so we can still get some pretty awesome ROMs

I have been looking into the kernel thing all day ... I also had a thought that might be an option for us let me know what you think. Since we now have Gingerbread If we were to take the ROM, root it strip it of all the AT&T crap, at tweaks where necessary, granted we would have overclocking but we could make a nicely configured ROM with only the good stuff. We then safe the image of our phone to a nandroid backup file. You restore it to your phone and your ready to go with out the junk and already all themed out. Just a thought

My guess is its probably 506 for the thrive

Edit- you sure that code is right my phone told me NO! might be my ROM though

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

loaded update from kdz
baseband: AMSS6170

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

same baseband for me as well

donovan, to respond to your final comment. All I ever expected to get out of customization on the phoenix was something just like what you described. AT&T bloatware gone, a few tweaks to boost performance maybe, and some sort of custom theme.

Sorry if I came across wrong. I saw bunch of questions that were all circling the same idea. Basically what we are all trying to find here is a good ROM that works faster than the stock froyo and doesn't curse us with all of the Bloatware that the carrier stuffs in. I know more than some people in here and less than others. I think this a learning process for all of us. Right now here are our options and I leave it to the channel to decide which we think is best.

1 wait and see if joban comes back after he bricked his phone (I asked him for his source code if he doesn't keep with us)

2 we can trying built a custom ROM based off of the stock ROM LG gave us and find some way to distributing it.

3 we can try to build another Kernel like joban's original based on the .35 source code (im getting closer to understanding how to alter it) that will let us use CM7 ROMs [this is probably our best bet if joban is out of the running because it will open more doors]
