[ROM] [05.25.11] Das BAMF 1.7

Just installed 1.7 and still playing around to see if I can find any differences between 1.6.3. I was wondering though, if there was a way to go back to a 4 per row app drawer instead of 5. It looks a bit crowded in my opinion.

Thanks for any help!

here's the site for the DB modifications
BAMF Remix Extras: Let's Remix It Again [05.27.11] UPDATE: Carbon Fiber Dialer - xda-developers
didn't see any to change the app drawer. but there are quite a few useful ones (including recent apps in notifications bar---that i flashed and works quite well.)

Ok, I'm trying to download the backup assist zip file listed on page 7 on this thread from my phone and as soon as I click on it, the page loads and then I am kicked out of the internet. Is this an issue with my phone?

How do I know if data is on?

According to hash, MD5 is: d14d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e

What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to flash remix 1.7 but it wont install. I just keep getting:
E: Can't open /sdcard/download/BAMF-Remix-v1.7.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

What should I do?

Thanks

The .zip has to be saved on the root of your SD card. It won't work if you have it in a folder.

I flashed it 4 different times. The software version still says 1.6.3

This is just a mistake and was mentioned in the xda thread several times. I think if you go into toolkit and look at the changelog it'll confirm that you're on 1.7.

Love the rom so far just notice when I'm charging my phone it moves incredibly slow but soon I take my phone off the charge it moves normal speed anybody know what cause this problem?

In the OP it says there's a radio that goes with it. Can someone give me a step by step or link to a guide about setting up new radios?

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm new to flashing roms and rooted devices in general.

per PaintDrinkingPete in another thread:
"BE SURE TO CHECK THE MD5 OF THE RADIO FILE BEFORE YOU FLASH! They are listed on the XDA page I linked to above. Flashing a bad file can BRICK your phone. A bad download will be the beginning of a really bad day!

To install, download file and rename to "PG05img.zip" and place on the root of the SD card. Reboot into HBOOT (hold power button and "volume -" when booting). Bootloader will be highlighed, press power button to execute. After a few seconds, it should automatically discover the radio file and begin the update process.

This process WILL NOT wipe your data...but you may want to do a nandroid backup before flashing new radios just in case.

After this has finished and your phone has rebooted, be sure to remove the PG05img.zip from the root of the SD card. "

hope you don't mind me quoting you, man

It isn't necessary to flash a new radio to run a Froyo-based ROM like das BAMF 1.7. In fact some users have reported better results by using an older radio file rather than the latest one. And if you've applied the Verizon OTA update you should already have the new radio.

I actually wanted to go back to an older radio. I installed the OTA and have had problems with rebooting ever since. I just rooted and am looking to replace the updated radio, and hoping that will resolve my rebooting issues. Have also read good things about Das BAMF and wanted to try it out.

Where would I find the MD5 of the radio? Cyberwarrior had a great guide for installing and backing up ROMs, I'm looking for the same kind of thing with radios. I'd really like to know exactly what I'm doing before doing anything with the radio. I'm catching on, but the last thing I want to do is screw up my phone.

I am having problems with thee keyboard double tapping keys, also when scrolling it acts if I'm pinching to zoom, any suggestions?

The radios are all posted here:
[RADIO] The Obligatory Thunderbolt Radio Thread - xda-developers

The first four listed are all of the Froyo radios. Just to avoid confusion:

1. Newest radio that came with OTA update (both 3G and 4G)
2. New 3G radio component with old 4G radio
3. Old 3G radio component with new 4G radio
4. Old (original) radio, both 3G and 4G.

The 2nd and 3rd are combinations created using the 2 radio "packages" available.

On my device, running DasBAMF 1.6.3, I seem to get the best performance using #2 (old LTE with new 3G). Your experience may be different.

Again...check your MD5s before flashing. One easy way to do this is use Astro File Manager. View the file on the SD card before booting into HBOOT to flash. Long-press the file and select "Details". You'll get an MD5 sum that should match the ones published on the XDA page linked above. If not, do not flash the radio!

Would I flash before or after installing the new ROM? I downloaded the standard Das BAMF 1.7 ROM and the radio that complements it. On the page, [/URL] it shows 5 different MD5s, would the top one be the MD5 I'm looking for?

Lastly, if it does ever start to bootloop how would I rectify that?

The radio linked to on DasBAMF page is the newest one I believe, so the MD5 should be:
8E166E93A9A72CB7955440720BA8869A

I don't believe it matters which order you do it, especially if going from a Froyo ROM to another Froyo ROM.

cool, thanks. Just want to make sure everything's right since this could go really bad if I screw it up and I've never done it before. I checked, and I have the correct radio. So all I have to do is boot into HBOOT, make sure bootloader is is highlighted, let it execute, then after it reboots delete the file from the root of my SD card. Then I should be OK right?

Any other issues I should be aware of when flashing a new radio?

Yeah load the file onto the root of your sd card, boot into hboot, select boot loader, volume up to accept installation when it prompts, then afterwards delete or rename the file.

if you want to be extra careful, you can check the hash (md5) while the file is on your sd card with hash droid app or astro file manager if you have it, just to make sure the file is still complete after the transfer from cpu to phone.

Anyway, you should be ok.
