Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

in case it helps,
after brick I flashed GB update with kdz
then with LGMDP v.1.5 I flashed P500 v10E baseband for old bb
as expected stock GB-no signal, closing errors
gingercrust rom works perfect with Jobans kernel

Hello fallsha, I was glad to hear that you got your phone to work with CM7. I too have a rooted LG Thrive P506 and would love to know how you did this. :) Thanks and Congrats.

Ya, i had to use the cyanogen mod 7 mirror....

THIS IS WHAT "I" DID...

1)Bricked my phone by flashing the wrong rom (Cyanogen Mod 7 .35 Kernal) and did not create a backup:(
2) Downloaded android SDK (On computer)
Downloaded CWM3100-p506-recovery image(On computer)
3) Unbricked by going into USD mode (Power+Home+Down)
a)Plug usb in and connect to computer (It said port, portchange, etc.)
b) Went into command prompt, typed the commands to fastboot erase recovery, fastboot flash CWM recovery image and fastboot reboot... Unplugged phone when it reset, and went into CWM recovery.
(Power+Home+UP)(It worked)
c)Made backup of the current .35 Rom because it worked kinda*, but just enough to use it for important reasons- so it would re-brick itself; i had CWM recovery on it now.
4)SO i shut my phone off, took SD card out and put it in an adapter and plugged it in my computer...
5)Downloaded the Cyanogen Mod 7 *Mirror*(The guy that made the C.M.7 .32 Kernal blocked the hyperlink to it cuz he was unhappy)
6) Downloaded Joban's Kernal 2.08 Gyro Fixed
7)Copied files to the SD card in the same folder, safely* removed my sd.
8)Put sd card in phone (while its off), turned on phone and went into CWM recovery mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the main part
9.1 Wipe data/ Factory Reset
9.2 wipe cache parition
9.3 advanced>wipe dalvik cache and battery SD
9.4 Install from zip card> Document(The folder with the files that u put init)>flash the .zip file and then rebooted the phone to home screen to see if it worked, and it did, with color issues tho...
9.5 Rebooted phone to CWM Recovery, and...
Install from zip card> Document(The folder with the files that u put init)>flash Joban's Kernal 2.08
9.6 Rebooted phone, and Voila... It worked- Colors, Sound, power button w/ screen, wifi, youtube, etc.

And that's the 5-day process of how i figured it out...
But during this i bricked my phone multiple times so i had to do the USD, and command prompt trick a lot.

Works like a charm....

If you don't mind me asking, how'd you do it?

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

I haven't done it yet. I rooted my phone yesterday and still have the stock rom, kernel, etc. I haven't installed clockwork mod or anything. The process above seems complicated so idk if I will try a custom rom just yet.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

lightdesk, are you on Froyo (2.2)? If so, please post your baseband version (It can be found in settings)

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Alright thanks a ton lightdesk, so this means that the KDZ update is indeed NBB

For reference:

AMSS6170 = NBB (New Baseband)
AMSS6038 = OBB (Old Baseband)

Joban, how exactly did you ruin service on your phone? When did it stop working?

Awesome glad we could confirm this. Joban killed his phone while trying to hack the baseband I think. Sound like he was trying to update to the newbaseband or something through the source code rather than the KDZ. He somehow managed to erase the phones IMEI # (serial number) and now the cell tower doesnt know who he is. Seems to me there ought to be a way to rewrite this to the correct number (provided he can even get the phone to boot).

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Joban, my advice would be to con the people in the store into replacing your phone. Just don't admit to doing ANYTHING to it. Just say you used the OFFICIAL update tool from the LG site and it stopped working. Otherwise I hope you get it fixed.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

Can anyone here please explain why my phoenix is running gingerbread 2.3.4 with kernel .35 (v20a) and i'm still running OLD BASEBAND? (AMSS6038)

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

OK according to xda dev v20G has the new baseband. v20(abcd)has old baseband. So this really confuses me. I'm in Canada running on Chatr wireless. WHAT VERSION kdz are u guys getting with AMSS6170?

Did you flash with KDZ?

Where are u guys getting your kdz from? I'm using the app provided by xda dev's for lg phones. Maybe there are different v20's for different areas.

I just tried the lg mobile support tool and it says v20a is the latest update for me?

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

well im going to add to the confusion. but first thanks bluntman_420 for the nand. it saved my @ss.

so in an attempt to help joban i flashed nbb(V20G) using LGMDP. flashed ICS+joban.35kernel.
it was sweet & sour. no wifi no data no matter what i played with. with joban not getting any headway with the kernel i needed to go obb or get stock nbb+stock rom working.

so LG mobile support tool wouldnt get that happenen sense i was already updated, nbb?
KDZ and LGMDP wouldnt work as when it went into emer mode it wouldnt communicate with phone.
ADB couldnt find phone.
after trying above methods a dozen times each just prayiing to get somewhere. even tryed other nbb roms.
with nothing else to try and before just giving up(even tryed to full brick just to get warranty) i remembered that i downloaded a nand of 2.3.4. flashed, rather restored, it and booted phone w\o sim. wifi worked. so put sim in and with adding an AT&T APN got data. wifi was having issues so turned it of and on, and got wifi.

so now reading all that you all have been figuring out with baseband and all, hears another twist.
i plug phone into LG mobile support tool and it says version V20G, no need to upgrade.
about phone says V20A. as im running bluntman_420's nand. who may be on obb?
ssoooo WTF.

but what ever the case i am happy now that i have a fully functional phone.

Re: Joban's Kernel 2.08 (Overclock, CM7 2.3.7 etc..) **Gyro Fixed

So guess all we do now is sit tight and wait for go-- I mean joban to work the kinks out of his kernel. If you need anything gimme a shout.

Diddy is you have phoenix then you do 3845#*505# in dialer or if you have thrive then you do 3845#*506#
