[ROM] ApeX V1.4.1 for Droid X & Droid 2 - Refinement and Ease of Use (2/22/2011)

Apex themes for 1.4.0 will work. 1.3.1 will work too but might leave you will out dated apps.

Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

Yeah I just flashed a couple of the themes that were posted in the link and are working fine. Read some people had problems but nothing so far for me.

Been a while since I've been on this forum and I saw this on the main page, caught my attention. I'm still running ApeX 1.3.1, time to upgrade. How has 1.4 been so far? I'm debating between this and Liberty.

This was my progression through ROMs.

Apex 1.3 > Apex 1.3.1 > Obsidian > Apex 1.3.1 > Liberty 1.0 > Liberty 1.5 > Apex 1.4 > Liberty 1.5

I used 1.4 for three days but finally got fed up with it. It's faster than the previous builds, but it just wasn't as stable for me. I'm having much better luck with Liberty 1.5 (and it's faster too). Try them both for a few days. Try Apex first, though. Some people (myself included) had some issues going from Liberty to Apex.

were the themes in the toolbox?

No...each Rom has its own themes. Which Rom are you using? You can Google "Themes for ? Rom" ... fill in the blank for the Rom you're interested in.. or if your looking for stock themes..."Themes for the Droid X".

Thanks once again for the work Fab!

I flashed it last night over top of 1.3.1 with no issues. Running great, you hit it out of the park again! Thanks again Fab and to all the efforts of the community. Great ROM!!

Here's a complete newbie question, but does the statement pasted below only apply to "upgraders"?

Users coming from 1.3.1 may be safe to keep data and cache. If there are problems, then factory reset. - Uninstall updates to Market, Gmail, ADW Launcher, & Search if they're there under Settings->Applications->Manage Applications first.

So, if this is my first time loading Apex, do I need to uninstall the updates to Market, GMAIL, etc?

It is recommended that you do so...

if you are coming on to apex for the first time, i would actually recommend doing a full data and cache wipe before applying the rom. i always like to do a clean wipe before installing any rom

I'm new to the droid world but racinwarrior has helped me figure out the custom goodies. Now I'm rooted and romed and I'm loving ApeX. Thanks for a great rom.

safe to flash 1.4.1 over 1.4.0 without wipe of data/cache? if so.. i do i still neeed to run titanium backup after installing to get my stuff back... that has to be one of the slowest things to do in the world...

Just wipe cache and then install.

I successfully added the APEX rom to my x. I followed all the guides and videos and it was great! Thanks for all the help!

Quick question though: when I restored my Titanium backup, I only restored the "missing apps + data". I quickly noticed I was missing all my old emails and text messages and some other important stuff. Then, I went back and restored everything. Was that a bad idea? I noticed that it installed all sorts of previously uninstalled apps and system stuff. Did I basically ruin what maes the apex rom so quick and efficient?

Not necessarily.... I did the same thing once but ended up with some duplicate files which caused the sync icon to never dissapear from the notification bar. You can go back into titanium and remove certain files if you know what your looking for. I ended up having to do a factory reset. Just be prepared for a clean wipe if you notice any problems.

I'm not getting near the battery life I got on 1.4. Anyone else experiencing this? I unplugged at 7:15 am, now 9:30 am and I'm down to 75%. On 1.4 I would plug in after a 14-16 hour day and be around 40-50%.

I have learned that this happens every time I restore Accounts1.2.1 or Account and Sync Settings 2.2.1 from Titanium Backup... I have been able to backup, wipe data from these options through TB and then only restore Accounts Storage 1.2.1 which is where all email accounts are stored except Google Accounts and resolve the locked sync issue.
