My phone went from %96 to %37 after a three hour drive in a 3G area. It's 4G radio is definitely alpha phase, I was getting average of 5Mbs down and 2Mbs up. Still has worked to be done

Did you install using Rom Manager? There have been reports of WiFi problems when installing using RM. Better to install using clockworkmod. May want to reflash using CWM. Good luck.

Sounds like it doesn't get along with your phone. Battery life has been excellent on my Thunderbolt. 14 hours and my extended battery is at 55%

I actually used CWM the whole way through except the radio install with hboot first thing... Hmm, I don't wanna have to wipe and reinstall all over again... I never use wifi anyway, maybe I'll just wait for the next update...

Make sure you're wiping more than once in recovery. I wipe 2-3 times all three (data, cache, dalvik) and haven't run into any problems that haven't been reported. Also make sure you're not restoring any kind of system data to the new ROM.

1. ) flash radio in bootloader
2. ) reboot into recovery
3. ) do your wipes /dalvik/cache/data
4. ) install rom from zip

Flashing now, new boot screen took forever, but eventually loaded up. Looks very nice so far and the new boot image is pretty sweet.

If its the rom zip file then no, just clear data cache and dalvik and flash with cwr.
If its a radio it needs to be named pg05img.zip and placed on root of sd card, and flashed in hboot

After you flash the rom you can flash the patches the same way, no need to wipe stuff in between those.

does this release have the notification bar like in 1.6.3. If not is there a way to get that in this release. I like having the power bar and the removed recent apps.

Recent apps aren't there unless you install the patch for it. The toggles aren't the same either since it's uses the newer since version which has them under another tab in the pull-down.
